About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified BACP registered counsellor based in Twickenham, working with a broad range of clients and issues. I offer both short-term and open-ended counselling to individuals either in person online, via Zoom or Teams, or via telephone.
Deciding to see a counsellor can be a difficult decision but a courageous first step in seeking support. Maybe you are feeling anxious, or depressed, struggling with difficult life events or there are issues in your relationships, counselling can help.
My role as a therapist is to facilitate a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment for you to explore your concerns, experiences and feelings. My role is not to provide answers but to ask questions that help you understand your thoughts and feelings and find your own answers, as part of your journey to improved self-awareness.
As an integrative therapist my approach is to work collaboratively with you, to meet your needs. I draw on a range of theories and techniques to help you gain understanding of how your past may be affecting your current situation, as well as how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be impacting you in the here and now. Everyone is individual and the work we do together would be unique to you, working with what is coming up for you, your needs, and at your pace.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with your problems, are stuck and wanting to change things we can work together in therapy and help you explore and address these issues, to find your own answers.
Practice description
I offer weekly 50 minute sessions either online, via telephone or in person in Twickenham. Both short-term and long-term counselling are available depending on your needs and preference.
I work individually with adolescents and adults. I see clients weekly and we can decide together the best way to work for you, whether this is in an open-ended way or whether you would prefer a set number of sessions/amount of time.
I have experience of working with a diverse range of clients to address both long-standing issues, as well as current issues or challenges.
Please do contact me to discuss your needs and whether you would like to work together, I offer this as a free introductory 20 minute telephone call. If you would like to pursue sessions we would agree on days and times that suit.
My first session
Choosing a counsellor is a very personal decision. Initially we would discuss your needs via a short telephone call to better understand your concerns and provide an opportunity for you to get to know me and my approach, to see if we feel we can work together. It is important that you feel comfortable, and that we could be a good fit and I am the right therapist for you.
Following this, the first session can be arranged, to meet either face-to-face, online, or via telephone to discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve from sessions together. In this first counselling session we will undertake an assessment and look at the best approaches for you. You will also have the opportunity during this session to ask any questions and discuss expectations, and ensure you feel comfortable and happy with moving forward together and how you can be best supported to achieve your goals.
