About me and my therapy practice

I am a UKCP and BACP registered humanistic and integrative psychotherapist, I meet with individuals and couples. I combine aspects of different approaches to personalise my therapeutic interventions that both support my work and provide a unique way of working that is based on your individual needs.

The success of any therapy work is largely dependent upon the quality of the therapeutic relationship. With this in mind, my approach is always aimed at facilitating a genuine, honest, and real engagement with my clients, founded upon trust, care, and openness that allows for the exploration of personal and sensitive issues within a safe and confidential therapeutic space.

Practice description

Individuals

There is no limit as to what can be discussed in therapy, and you are welcome to bring about absolutely anything, from general improvement to more specific concerns that include:

Anxiety (panic attacks, stress)

Depression (low mood, feeling sad or hopeless)

Trauma (abuse, relational, accident, birth, surgery)

Loss and bereavement (person, job, finances)

Professional burn-out, bullying, or harassment

Inter-relational tensions (conflict, parenting, divorce)

Issues around lack of self-confidence, low self-worth, feeling not good enough, fear of failure, and fear of change

Couples

Sometimes, relationships undergo periods of stress and it may feel as if they are the source of unhappiness or confusion. Relationship issues can vary considerably, and I work with a wide range of couples from different cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations. A brief exploration of the most common types of relationship issues includes; arguing and conflict, affairs and betrayals, life transitions (starting a family, blending of families, children leaving home, financial stress, retirement), and fertility issues.

Neurodiversity

I have experience working with clients who have an official diagnosis or traits of a neurodivergent condition that include Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger's syndrome (now considered a part of the broader term ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Tourette's syndrome.

My first session

The initial assessment sessions, enable us to gain a clearer understanding of your challenges and the goals you want to achieve. It is important that you feel comfortable with me and that I feel that I am able to offer what you need. If we decide to continue together, we will agree on the days and times we meet each week. I will use a contract that we look at together, to offer you a clear framework and you will only sign what you fully agree with. I suggest regular review sessions allow us the opportunity to look at the progress of our work together, our timeframes, and what we may work towards.
