About me and my therapy practice
My name is Rory, and I began my therapy training in 2004, marking over 20 years of experience in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
I am committed to offering counselling and psychotherapy within a safe, confidential, and professional environment. Over the years, I have worked with individuals and couples across a range of issues, and I am also a qualified clinical supervisor, supporting both trainee and experienced therapists.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches, each grounded in a deep respect for the individual and the healing potential of relationships—past, present, and future. My work is informed by core principles of empathy, authenticity, and the belief in each person's capacity for growth and change.
Integrative therapy allows me to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Rather than adhering to a single therapeutic model, I integrate key elements from the major schools of psychotherapy to explore how early and ongoing relational patterns shape the way we see ourselves and relate to others.
I have specialist experience in:
Couples counselling
Psycho-sexual issues
Bereavement, grief, and loss
Depression, Anxiety, and OCD
Spiritual Issues
As a relational therapist, I engage actively in the therapeutic process. I don’t believe in simply nodding from the sidelines. Instead, I bring myself into the therapeutic relationship with warmth and honesty, offering thoughtful feedback where appropriate, while always keeping your pace and readiness in mind.
Above all, I aim to work alongside you, supporting you to tell your story in a way that feels safe, accessible, and meaningful.
Practice description
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a blend of therapeutic approaches, each rooted in a deep respect for the individual and the healing power of relationships. Empathy is central to my work. I aim to meet you where you are, to understand your world as you experience it, and to walk alongside you with compassion and authenticity.
Integrative therapy allows me to tailor the work to your unique needs. Rather than relying on a single method, I draw from the major schools of psychotherapy to explore how past and present relational patterns shape how we feel, relate, and make sense of ourselves.
I have specialist experience in:
My first session
Your first session is a gentle introduction to the therapeutic process and an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I understand that beginning therapy can feel daunting, so my priority is to create a warm, calm, and welcoming space where you can arrive as you are.
In this session, I invite you to share what has brought you to therapy and what you feel you need at this time. There is no pressure to tell your whole story at once, we go at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I listen closely and with curiosity, aiming to understand your experience from your perspective. You can ask questions, express any uncertainties, and get a sense of how we might work together.
We will explore what you hope to gain from therapy and consider what feels most important to focus on. I may offer reflections or gentle guidance, but the session is centred on you, your needs, your comfort, and your readiness.
You are also free to use this time to see whether my approach feels like the right fit. A therapeutic relationship is built on trust, and it’s important that you feel safe, heard, and supported from the very beginning.
By the end of the first session, many clients say they leave with a clearer sense of direction, a little more space to breathe, and the reassurance that they don’t have to navigate things alone.
