About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. You may be here because you are feeling confused, anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, misunderstood or struggling to cope. I understand it can feel difficult to manage these feelings alone and I can support you with difficulties around ADHD, autism, relationship problems, anxiety, depression and low confidence and low self-esteem.
There are many reasons for seeking counselling but maybe you are feeling some of the following:-
• Struggling with sleep and have difficulty with racing thoughts and dread about the following day.
• Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted before you have even started the day.
• A constant feeling of worry and anxiety, sometimes without any obvious reason.
• Putting on a mask to face the world and feeling exhausted from having to ‘pretend’ everything is okay, when deep down you feel that are not coping.
• Feeling that these difficulties are impacting on confidence, self-esteem, relationships and professional and social life.
It makes perfect sense that you want to find a way to make things in your life feel more manageable, fulfilling and enjoyable.
I am a certified and experienced online counsellor. I have a warm and gentle approach to working with clients, by providing a friendly, calm therapeutic relationship. I can help you begin to get back in touch with who you are, what you need and want in your life, how you can change old patterns that are not working for you anymore, improve relationships, discover more about how come you feel the way you do, and support you in feeling more empowered and find lasting change that works best for you.
Practice description
As well as my own private practice, I also work with Mind and specialise in supporting clients in understanding and living with ADHD. We will work together in a way that feels comfortable for you, where you can be yourself and I will put you and your needs at the centre of our work together. I have ADHD myself so have personal experience as well as being experienced in working with clients with ADHD, either diagnosed or self-identified.
I provide sessions online and am passionate about working in this way as it makes counselling much more accessible. You can fit your counselling sessions around you, there are no travelling costs or times to take into consideration and you can have the sessions in your own home with your home comforts around you. Online and telephone counselling has been found to be just effective as face-to-face. I am a certified and experienced online and telephone counsellor.
I offer a free initial 20-minute Zoom or telephone appointment so that I can get an idea about what is going on for you and what you would like to gain from counselling, and you can get an idea about how I work and whether I am the right counsellor for you. I can also answer any questions that you might have. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, you can have a set number of sessions or sessions can be open-ended. We will regularly review the therapy together as we progress through the sessions to ensure you are getting what you need and that it is working for you.
I understand that you may feel nervous about having counselling and I want to assure you that we will go at your pace. You can ask me any questions you feel you need to, and I will support you all the way through your counselling journey.
My first session
The initial free 20 minutes session is a chance for us to meet and for us both to get an idea if I am the right fit to be your counsellor. At the end of the initial free session if you feel you would like to book in for your first full session you can do so there and then or you can, of course, take some time to think about it and get back to me if you wish.
Full sessions are for 50 minutes and in the first session we will have a mutual assessment where I will ask you some questions to gain a deeper understanding of what is going on for you and what you would like to get out of the counselling, and you can get more of a sense of how we will work together and if it feels right for you. If you would like to take up the sessions we can then discuss availability and frequency of sessions and can book in our next session.
I normally do a review at session six and see if you are getting what you need from the therapy and if it is working for you. You can either continue with sessions or we can end if you have got what you needed.
