About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling using the creative arts to explore emotional problems and challenges, and I specifically work with teenagers and young adults aged 12-25-years-old. My work with adolescents can target a range of challenges as highlighted below. Relationship is at the core of my work and I believe that this is key to any healing opportunities.

My offering is of hourly weekly sessions and the first of these is free as part of an initial assessment to see suitability for both parties. There is no obligation to use my service after this meeting.

I also have access to a therapy dog in training who can be used as part of these sessions if you agree to his inclusion.

Practice description

I work with 12-25-years-old only and can take clients on both a short and long term basis.

My main qualifications include: Diploma in Counselling Teenagers (Level 6 equivalent); Masters in Education; Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring; BA Hons Youth Work; Trauma and Mental Health-informed Practitioner.

I also have a level 2 safeguarding qualification and all relevant insurances. All sessions are confidential and I can also work alongside other agencies as part of a wider wraparound care for a young person.

I work within the code of ethics set out by BACP, and I ensure I receive regular supervision and carry out continuous professional development each year.

My first session

The first session acts as an exploratory meeting for both parties so we can work out the suitability of this service for you. This lasts approximately 30 minutes. This will include gaining understanding of why you wish to undertake therapy now and of some of the key times in your life, amongst other things.

This time is also a space for you to ask any questions you have about my practice so you will then be able to make an informed decision about if this service is appropriate for you.

We would also explore confidentiality and safeguarding practices during this time.
