About me and my therapy practice
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming. There are many different approaches to therapy and of describing the work, which can make it hard to know where to start.
I have a masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents. However, I generally take a more integrative and relational approach to therapy, adapting to help suit what feels most helpful for you at this point in your life. Central to my work is nurturing the therapeutic relationship. I aim to offer a space that is calm, consistent and supportive in which you feel safe to share whatever is going on for you without judgment.
I have experience working with people across a range of ages and with varied mental health difficulties, both in private practice and across NHS and charity organisations.
I have a deep commitment to inclusivity and diversity which has been partially shaped by my experiences of living and working across multiple countries and continents throughout my life. I aim to always be mindful of the fact that everyone has a unique background, perspective and lived experience. I start all new therapeutic relationships with sensitivity, warmth, and curiosity.
Along with formal training, I also have done courses in several other different models such as health and wellbeing coaching and eco-psychotherapy. I am committed to continuing to learn and add tools to my 'kit'. I take a more flexible approach drawing on elements from the different models to best suit the needs of the individual.
Practice description
My aim is to be reliable and respectful of whatever you choose to bring to the therapeutic space. I may offer insights here and there and encourage you to think about your own supports and resources you may already have in place or may be able to lean on. We then may be able to explore the options you may have in any given situation and see where, if you choose to do so, there may be room for change or growth.
I am particularly experienced in supporting people through periods of change or transition, including difficulties relating to identity and belonging, loss, relationships, self-esteem, low mood, anxiety, and navigating bias or mental health stigma. However, all clients bring their own story and themes to the work and I feel comfortable meeting you wherever you are at. We can work in both short or longer term interventions and some clients may prefer to have more structured 'goals' from the therapy. Regardless, I believe it is important to review the work periodically, to reflect on what feels helpful and what may need to change.
