About me and my therapy practice

I’m a BACP-registered psychotherapist based in Torbay, offering individual counselling for adults navigating emotions and feelings as well as those who have difficulties managing mental and emotional health.

With a background in NHS health coaching, personal training, and yoga, I offer a holistic approach that recognises the link between emotional and physical wellbeing using talk therapy and psychology. Clients describe me as grounded, warm, and easy to talk to.

I work from The Devon Clinic in Paignton and online, creating a space to reflect, realign, and move forward. Whether you’re facing burnout, identity shifts, or seeking change, I offer support that’s collaborative and personalised.

I offer a short free telephone consultation for us to learn about your therapeutic needs.

Practice description

A counselling session is a space just for you.

Each session lasts 50 minutes and offers a calm, confidential environment where you can talk about whatever feels most important - or difficult - at that time. There’s no pressure to know what to say, and no expectation to share more than you’re ready to.

Some people come with a clear issue they want to explore.

Others arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin.

Both are welcome.

My role is to listen carefully, help you make sense of what you’re experiencing, and support you to understand patterns that may be affecting your emotions, relationships, or sense of self.

At times, we may gently explore how past experiences are still showing up in your life today. This might include noticing emotional responses, body sensations, or behaviours that developed as ways of coping. Nothing is forced, and the pace is always guided by you.

Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means prioritising safety, choice, and respect at all times - especially if you are neurodiverse, LGBTQIA+, or have experienced harm or overwhelm in the past.

Over time, counselling can help you develop greater self-understanding, emotional balance, and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to meet and begin gently understanding what has brought you to therapy.

Using what we’ve already discussed in our initial call, I’ll invite you to talk about how you are really feeling - at a pace that feels right for you. There is no expectation to tell your whole story, explain everything clearly, or know where to begin.

Many people arrive feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or worried about saying the “wrong thing.” You may even find it hard to put your feelings into words. That’s okay. Part of my role is to help you slow things down and make sense of things together.

During this first session, I’ll listen carefully for themes in what you share and support you to explore what feels safe to talk about. The focus is on building trust, understanding how you see the world, and beginning to notice what might help you feel more balanced between sessions.

Clients often tell me they are surprised by how quickly the session passes - and that they leave feeling a little less tense.
