About me and my therapy practice

At times, life can feel overwhelming. You may be feeling lonely, sad, anxious, low in mood, or simply have a sense that something isn’t quite right. You may be struggling with a recent difficulty, past experiences, relationships, or finding it hard to understand and manage how you feel. Whatever has brought you to counselling, you don’t have to face it alone.

I provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can express yourself freely and talk openly about whatever you are experiencing. Having the time and space to be truly heard can be powerful. Together, we can explore the difficulties you are facing, develop a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings, and work towards positive change.

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor, supporting individuals experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, family issues, shame, trauma, low self-esteem, self-harm and life changes. I understand that everyone’s experiences are unique, and I believe counselling should be tailored to you as an individual.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt the way I work to suit your needs, preferences and goals. Our work together will be collaborative, with you remaining at the centre of the process. For some, having a safe space to talk and be listened to may be the most helpful starting point. For others, it may be useful to explore patterns, develop coping strategies, set goals or use practical tools and techniques.

If you feel counselling could be helpful, I would support you in exploring what you are experiencing and working towards greater understanding, confidence and wellbeing.

Practice description

I understand that reaching out to a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting. It can take courage to make that first contact and begin talking about things that may have been difficult to put into words. If you are considering counselling, I want you to know that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you arrive. We can take things one step at a time, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My role is to offer you a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and talk openly about whatever is on your mind. I will listen with understanding and compassion, and together we can explore what you would like to be different in your life.

Counselling can be an opportunity to pause and give yourself some time and space. It can help you gain a better understanding of yourself, build confidence, find new ways of coping and consider possibilities that may have felt difficult to see before. Making changes can sometimes feel challenging, but it can also open the door to new opportunities, greater confidence and a stronger sense of fulfilment.

My counselling room is a  cabin situated in my garden. I have created it to be a calm and comfortable space where you can feel at ease and have the privacy to focus on yourself. The cabin is accessed through a side gate, allowing you to come directly into the counselling space.

I also offer online counselling using Google Meet if you would prefer to talk from the comfort of your own home. Whether you choose to meet with me in person or online, I will offer you the same warm, supportive and confidential space.

Taking the first step can feel like a big decision, but you don't have to make any decisions about your whole journey straight away. We can simply start with a conversation and see how it feels for you.

My first session

Initially, we will arrange a 20–30 minute consultation, which can takes place online. There is no charge for this initial conversation, and there is no obligation to continue with counselling afterwards.

I appreciate that contacting a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting, so I want this initial conversation to feel relaxed and informal. It gives us an opportunity to find out a little more about each other and for you to get a sense of who I am and how I work.

During our consultation, I will invite you to share a little about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. This will help me to understand what you are hoping to gain from our work together and what you feel you need from counselling. You don't need to prepare anything beforehand or know exactly what you want to say — we can simply have a conversation and take it from there.

It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have about counselling, how I work, or what you can expect from sessions. Choosing the right counsellor is an important and personal decision, and it is completely understandable that you may want to find out more before deciding whether counselling with me feels right for you.

Most importantly, the consultation gives us both the opportunity to see whether we feel we could work well together. A trusting and comfortable relationship is an important part of counselling, and I want you to feel that you are in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space.

If, after our consultation, you feel that you would like to continue, we can discuss arranging regular sessions and agree on an approach that feels comfortable and appropriate for you. There is no pressure to make a decision during our initial conversation — you can take the time you need.
