About me and my therapy practice
If you need to talk to someone, I’m a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Bushey and Watford.
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons - depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, relationship difficulties or other life changes.
Sometimes it’s about making sense of a specific event or crisis. Other times, it’s a deeper feeling of sadness, hopelessness or frustration at being ‘stuck’ in life.
You might not have clear words yet; just a sense that something doesn’t feel right. We can start wherever you are.
Whatever brings you here, I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore what’s going on.
I work in a way that is sensitive to the impact of trauma and past experiences. This means prioritising emotional safety, choice and collaboration, and working at a pace that feels manageable for you.
You can pause, slow things down, or change the focus at any time.
I also take a neurodiversity-affirming approach. I recognise that people experience and express emotions, relationships and the world in different ways. I aim to work flexibly and respectfully, without assumptions about how someone should think, feel or communicate.
Practice description
I work in comfortable and private therapy rooms in Bushey and central Watford; both of which have parking facilities and wheelchair access. I also work online and on the telephone.
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and typically take place on the same day and time each week. Other people, ie shift workers, need a bit more flexibility, which I can offer.
You may know that you want to just have a few sessions with me to talk through a single issue or you might feel that it is time to invest in longer-term therapy, to explore some things that run deeply for you.
Both are perfectly acceptable and I know, from personal experience, have the potential to be life changing.
I have worked with clients for very long-term counselling and I also work for NHS Talking Therapies providing much shorter-term therapy using the NHS-approved Counselling for Depression model.
I am a volunteer counsellor and chair of trustees at Juno Counselling in Watford and have a specific interest in working with people of all genders who have experienced sexual violence.
Please send me an email if you'd like to talk through what counselling might look like for you.
My first session
Our first session is a chance for us to meet and talk about what’s brought you to counselling. There’s no assessment to pass and no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to talk about.
We’ll go at your pace. You’re always in control of what we explore, and you can ask questions or pause at any point.
Some people come with a clear focus, others don’t. Both are completely okay.
You’re welcome to communicate in the way that works best for you. This might include taking time to think, speaking slowly, or using notes if that feels helpful.
If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, you’re welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
