Availability

I currently have availability and can offer face to face sessions at Tring Therapy Centre.

About me and my therapy practice

I work in an integrative way which means that I use a variety of psychological theories within my work so that I can tailor my work to your needs. As the client, you know what works for you and before we start work together we will have a chat so that I fully understand your needs. As the work progresses, this can change but at all times we will work collaboratively together so that your therapy is appropriate to your needs.

I work face to face in the comfortable therapy rooms at Tring Therapy Centre. I also offer online work using Zoom. You can choose whether you would like to work face to face or online or choose a mixture of both. Sessions are usually weekly but this can vary depending on your needs and the stage that you are within therapy.

Practice description

I appreciate that making the decision to come for therapy can be a very difficult and emotional one. If you choose to work with me, I will offer a warm, confidential space where you are listened to in an empathic and compassionate way.

Everyday life can bring with it a variety of stressors which if not addressed can result in anxiety and low mood. Therapy can help us to find perspective and prioritise what is important to us. If you choose to work with me, I can offer you stabilisation and grounding techniques to help you to self-regulate whilst also exploring ways in which you can challenge negative thinking patterns.

Trauma can present itself in many ways and can be incredibly difficult to navigate alone. This is because, when we have suffered trauma, either recently or historically, our nervous system is dysregulated and results in us feeling overwhelmed and unable to respond in rational ways. If trauma is what has brought you to counselling, I can offer you a confidential space where we can safely explore your world in creative ways that use grounding, journaling, imagery and symbolism among other techniques to enable you to process and begin to heal from your trauma.

At the heart of all my counselling work is the therapeutic relationship and at the start of our work together we will spend time building trust. While I will offer challenge, you will be in control of the pace of the work that we do so that at all times you feel safe and in control.

My first session

The first step in therapy is your initial enquiry. I will respond to your email offering you a free twenty-minute session over Zoom so that we can discuss your needs.

If, after this call, you decide that you would like to work with me, we will agree a time for our first session and at this point you can decide if you want to work face to face or online. I will also send you a copy of my Counselling Agreement and Privacy Notice.

Our first session will be an assessment. While this can sound scary, it is more of an informal chat where you can share with me information which will help me to understand your needs.
