About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling to adults and young people age 11+. I specialise in the impact difficult relationships and traumatic events can have on our lives.

My hope is to provide a space where you feel heard and able to be completely yourself. I wholeheartedly believe that a genuine relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to positive change taking place.

Practice description

I’m aware of the impact difficult relationships and traumatic events can have on our lives. They can affect our self-worth, cause anxiety, depression, even lead to self-harm or thoughts of suicide. Outside factors can have a huge impact on our lives but I’ve worked with many clients to find a way for them to create a calmer, happier, more authentic life for themselves.

I work extensively with trauma which can come in many forms including early childhood trauma, neglect, emotional, physical or sexual trauma. I've also worked with survivors of sexual trauma and take a trauma informed approach to ensure your safety at all times.

I'm also passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse; which can include not just physical abuse but emotional abuse, financial control, gas-lighting and coercive control. Many survivors often feel they've lost their own personal identity and we’ll work together to help you find yourself again.

In our lives we can experience loss in many forms - loss of identity, relationship breakdown, estrangement, divorce, illness and bereavement. These major life changes can hugely impact us.

Through therapy I will sit alongside you to fully understand what you are experiencing. I do not judge and I won't pressurise you to share anything until you feel you're ready.

Through working as a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) I’ve gained training and experience to work with people who suspect they are autistic or experiencing symptoms of ADHD (or with people who have been diagnosed). Work in this area involves gaining an understanding of how these diagnoses impact you on a personal level.

I have worked as a counsellor with adolescents at Basingstoke College of Technology and Hart Voluntary Action. I incorporate activities into talking therapy with young people and this might include games or art to provide a space where they feel comfortable and not under pressure to speak until they feel able to.
