About me and my therapy practice

Counselling allows you to pause, reflect and discover different ways of living. Working in a person-centred way, I help you focus on specific issues, identifying and changing old patterns of behaviour to make a positive difference in your life.

Growth is a complex process, and I am with you every step of the way to help you discover and appreciate the true you to break patterns that are keeping you stuck.

I have been working as a qualified counsellor for over twelve years. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited member of the National Counselling Service (NCPS).

I specialise in working with people struggling with confidence and self-worth issues, burnout, stress and anxiety. I offer in-person and remote online therapy sessions for your convenience.

I'm also a Holistic Practitioner, having trained as a Reiki healer and intuition development.

Practice description

My passion is listening and believing people can find their answers with support and guidance to get where they need to go. My background is counselling within the NHS, helping run a voluntary counselling service and more recently private practice.

It takes a lot of strength for people to ask for help, and I encourage everyone to be kind to themselves as they would be to others. I draw on and apply different therapeutic approaches, mainly Humanistic and Client-Centred. Humanistic counselling recognises that every individual is unique. It focuses on growth and self-development to enable the exploration of thoughts and feelings to work out solutions. Client-Centred (also known as Person-Centred) counselling focuses on an individual's values and self-worth. When you feel valued without judgement, it can help you to accept who you are and the choices you make.

My first session

I offer face-to-face counselling sessions at my Manchester-based therapy room in Whitefield (North Manchester). My therapy space is 5 minutes from junction 17 of the M60 in a car and is a 5 minute work from the local tram station.

You can also book online or telephone sessions more conveniently via remote counselling sessions. Remote sessions take place via Zoom or telephone, with alternative methods available. Please contact me to book an appointment.

I tailor sessions to the individual, so maybe your short-term goal is to look at a specific single issue or a more long-term approach for you to process difficult emotions and find new coping strategies. I ask for a 10-minute consultation before we agree to a session where we can both ask questions and determine if we're an excellent dynamic to work together (no charge).

I can offer a single therapy, a one-off session to look at a specific issue for immediate treatment or six-session therapy to consider complex problems and longer-term therapy for ongoing support. Weekly sessions are generally advised, depending on what is appropriate in your case.
