About me and my therapy practice
My therapeutic approach is a blend of person-centred and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies. My offering is grounded in compassion and empathy, bringing what is needed to a place of holding for you. You may be struggling with a specific issue that you want to address with the support of a therapist, or it may be that you are looking for developing a deeper relational connection to be able to gain insight into your patterns of behaviour, and how you view yourself. I offer short term counselling and also psychotherapy. I will always attune to what you need and what your goals for therapy are, and we can explore this together.
I have experience in many areas , trauma being a field I have focused on for much of my counselling practice. I now also specialise in supporting other therapists and people identifying as neuro divergent, diagnosed or self discovered.
I am welcoming of diversity and difference, and will always meet you in acceptance and respect for your identity.
It's a big step to reach out and ask for help, and often it can seem daunting. I always offer an initial phone call free of charge, which will help you to decide how to proceed.
Practice description
In the initial sessions we will get to know each other, and build some trust. I have experience in inner child work, parts work, complex trauma and dissociative states. I believe that witnessing and compassionate curiosity used in a trauma informed way can be healing as you feel heard, seen and understood. Bringing in psycho-education, somatic practice and mindfulness are additional tools I use and share.

The first session is usually where an assessment of your needs takes place, and we start to get to know each other.

About me and my therapy practice
My therapeutic approach is a blend of person-centred and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies. My offering is grounded in compassion and empathy, bringing what is needed to a place of holding for you.
In our sessions we can together, explore whatever comes up for you. You may have specific areas you want to address; or issues in your life that need attention. The process of talking therapy can mean you are hearing yourself speak for the first time, to the challenges you face; they become real and more tangible. Gradually, the tangled yarn that your life may seem like becomes more ordered and easier to understand. I believe in providing a non-judgemental and accepting environment for you to express whatever it is that needs to be heard. The therapeutic relationship can be a powerful tool for understanding your patterns of relating to others and your ways of being. Through this understanding it is possible to change and grow, and I will be there to walk alongside you in that process. I believe strongly that I am welcoming of diversity and difference, and will always meet you in acceptance and respect for your identity.
Practice description
I am always led by my client, and therefore will be guided by how you are most comfortable working.
I can either work entirely using the IFS model and techniques, or similarly with a person-centred only approach, but there is crossover, and I find integrating both works well too.
It is wise to set some goals for therapy initially. We will review how the therapy is progressing at regular intervals agreed between yourself and me. I am open to altering and adjusting when needed, and try to remain as flexible as possible. I appreciate it when clients give me feedback about their expereince, if they are able to do this.
My first session
A first session with me is focussed on getting to know a little about you, and for you to be able to ask any questions you may have regarding therapy sessions, my experience etc.
I will also spend some time asking holistically centred questions, so we can both identify any areas of your life that may benefit from attention, in or out of therapy. This is because I recognise the need for overall wellbeing. For healthy bodies and minds, connection in relationships; and the strain that other factors such as housing, work and finances can place on us, and affect our overall wellbeing.
