About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Clinical Counsellor and Supervisor, an AANE-trained Neurodivergent Couples Therapist, and a BWRT Psychotherapist.
My practice is trauma-informed, relational and neurodivergent-affirming. I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, attachment difficulties, and the lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences. I also specialise in supporting autistic and ADHD adults, whether formally diagnosed or exploring the possibility of being neurodivergent.
I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Counselling from the University of Chester. I previously worked as a Clinical Counsellor within the Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH), NHS Talking Therapies service. Alongside my private practice, I continue to develop my specialist knowledge through advanced training in trauma, neurodivergent-affirming practice and couples therapy.
Neurodivergent Couples Therapy
Neurodivergent relationships often involve challenges that can be confusing or painful for both partners. Emotional dysregulation, sensory sensitivities, communication differences, executive functioning, rejection sensitivity and differences in needs for connection can all create recurring patterns of misunderstanding. Behaviours that may appear uncaring, controlling, overly emotional or withdrawn are often expressions of very different neurological experiences rather than lack of love or commitment
As a neuro-affirming therapist, I also help couples recognise and build upon their strengths such as deep loyalty, honesty, passion, creativity, problem-solving skills and authenticity, etc. I believe couples therapy is about creating relationships where both partners feel heard, respected and understood, where differences are accommodated and where each partner can influence the relationship without compromising who they are.
