About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist who uses a relational and trauma-informed framework to support children and young people who have experienced life differently to their peers. This can be due to neurodiversity, physical difficulties, an early parental death or a host of other experiences. I focus on nurturing the psychological wellbeing of my clients using the knowledge that I have gained working in the education and mental health sectors for over twenty years. My goal is to help each child or young person understand themselves well enough to navigate the world around them.
Practice description
I specialise in supporting children and young people aged 5 to 18 facing personal challenges, learning or physical disadvantages and family adversity.
I use age appropriate therapeutic approaches to help my clients express feelings that may be difficult for them to put into words. Sessions are arranged at a regular weekly time in a confidential, reflective space to help explore whatever is causing the child or young person to feel the way that they do. This may include emotional struggles, social challenges, low self-esteem, bereavement, family breakdown or anxiety relating to the world around them and how they fit in. My aim is to help your child to understand themselves so that they can gain confidence in navigating their space in the world in which they live.
It can be difficult to know how best to support your child and finding the right therapist can feel daunting. I offer a space where children and young people can feel safe to be themselves and where they will be listened to with empathy, curiosity, honesty and humour. I will help them to recognise their strengths, understand their experiences and feel more able to manage life’s challenges.
I offer short (6-12) and long term (open-ended) counselling in person in SE1.
