About me and my therapy practice
I believe that meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can speak openly about your experiences, thoughts and feelings, without pressure to have everything figured out.
My work is person-centred and trauma-informed. I see you as the expert in your own life and believe that therapy should be shaped around your individual experiences, needs, strengths and goals. Rather than offering a formula or telling you what you should do, I work collaboratively with you to understand what you are experiencing and what may be contributing to it.
I listen carefully to what you bring, including what may be difficult to put into words. Together, we can explore patterns, emotions, relationships and experiences that may be affecting how you feel, think and respond in the present.
My trauma-informed approach means I work with sensitivity to the impact that difficult or overwhelming experiences can have on our sense of safety, trust, relationships and view of ourselves. I will never expect you to disclose more than you are ready to explore, and we work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I also recognise that therapy is relational. The relationship we develop can offer an opportunity to feel heard, respected, and understood, while creating space to build greater self-awareness, confidence, and choice.
Whether you are coming to therapy individually or as a couple, I aim to provide a thoughtful, compassionate and professionally grounded space where difficult experiences can be explored safely and where meaningful change can develop.
Practice description
I offer private individual counselling and couples therapy to adults aged 18 and over, both in person in Chinnor, Oxfordshire and online across England.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, loss, life changes, difficult past experiences, or you may feel that you are struggling and want somewhere safe to make sense of what is happening.
My practice is trauma-informed and person-centred, and I have experience supporting people affected by trauma, abuse and domestic abuse. I understand that difficult experiences can affect our emotional wellbeing, confidence, relationships and sense of self. I offer a sensitive, respectful space in which these experiences can be explored at your own pace, without judgement or assumptions.
I also work with couples who may be experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, loss of connection or difficulties with trust. I provide a calm and balanced space where both partners can be heard and understood. Couples therapy can help you explore relationship patterns, understand each other's needs and develop more constructive ways of communicating and relating.
My practice is grounded in professionalism, confidentiality, warmth and respect. I understand that choosing a therapist can feel daunting, and I aim to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
Whether you come to therapy individually or as a couple, sessions provide time and space away from the demands of everyday life to pause, reflect and gain greater clarity and understanding. I aim to support you in developing greater self-awareness, confidence and meaningful, sustainable change.
My first session
Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step, and it is completely natural to feel uncertain or nervous about reaching out. I offer a complimentary 30-minute online initial session. This allows us to meet, talk about what brought you to therapy and consider whether working together feels right for you.
The session is informal and unpressured. There is no expectation to commit to further therapy. You can tell me as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing, and you are welcome to ask questions about my approach, how therapy works, confidentiality, practical arrangements or anything else that would help you make an informed decision.
For individual therapy, we can begin by exploring what you are experiencing, what you would like support with and what you hope may change. For couples, the initial session allows both partners to talk about the relationship and what has brought you to therapy, while giving us space to consider what you would like to work towards together.
I will explain how I work and, where appropriate, discuss how we might approach the work and what the next steps could look like. My priority is to create a sense of safety, respect and openness from the beginning.
The initial session is also an opportunity for you to consider whether you feel comfortable with me and whether my approach feels right for you. Finding a therapist you feel able to trust and work openly with is an important part of the process.
If we decide to continue, we will agree on how to proceed and establish a pace and focus that reflects your circumstances and goals. If you decide not to continue, that is ok.
Your first step does not need to be a commitment to therapy. It can simply be an opportunity for us to meet, talk and see whether I am the right therapist for you.
