About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, my name is Debbie, pronouns she/her.
Being a person-centred therapist at my core, with a passion for growth and development, I take a collaborative approach to my client work. After all, you are the expert on yourself; I'm there to support and sit beside you as we navigate your experiences of this world.
The heart of my practice is grounded in empathy, genuineness, non-judgmentalism, and creativity. I aim to provide a space for my clients where they will feel welcomed, safe, and able to bring their whole identity into the session, which in turn will cultivate the conditions required for a trusting therapeutic alliance. A place to explore the gift of self-nurturing, healing, and ultimately, thriving.
I am trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and view my work through an intersectional feminist lens. I work with a culturally diverse client base, LGBTQIA+ community, and strive to build an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive way of being.
My own self-care is also priority. I work with my own therapist, engage in peer support, and attend monthly clinical supervision in line with BACP guidelines. This helps me to be the best I can be for my clients.
Out of working hours, I have a few special interests: mid-century art & design, architecture, music, and yoga. I am a very willing companion to my feline friend who (full disclosure) may make an appearance during our online sessions together. I welcome your pets into our sessions, please ask about bringing them along to in-person sessions.
For in person sessions, I am based in Edinburgh.
Practice description
I offer both short and long-term therapy online and in person following a free initial 20-minute consultation by video.
Each session is 50 minutes, on the same day and time every week, where possible.
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Well-being, Counselling, and Psychotherapy, from Aberdeen University. However, my practice has evolved and diversified over the past six years. I work in a collaborative way, travelling alongside my clients on their journey. Over the past years, I have concentrated on trauma-informed practice and neurodiversity-affirming practice, particularly working therapeutically with Autistic adults. I am happy to share a list of my CPD and certificates are available to view upon request. I also have accrued over 1000 hours of client work, and will be starting the accreditation process Spring 2026.
My first session
I provide a free 20 minute consultation online for us to explore working together.
This time will allow you to ask any questions regarding my practice, and it's a space for you to bring an overview of your preferences, needs, expectations, and potential outcomes.
