About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, my name is Debbie, I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor & Psychotherapist in 2020 from Aberdeen University.
During the past five years, I have developed my practice to be more integrative. As a therapist, I work collaboratively and holistically to meet my client's needs. After all, you are the expert on you. I'm there to support and sit beside you as we navigate your story.
The core of my practice is grounded in empathy, genuineness, non-judgmentalism, and creativity. I aim to create a space for my clients where they will feel welcomed, safe, and able to bring their whole identity into the session, which in turn will cultivate the conditions required for growth, personal development, and healing.
My approach is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and viewed from an intersectional feminist perspective. I work with a culturally diverse client base, the LGBTQIA+ community, and continuously question my privilege in the world.
I am dedicated to continuous learning, and I strive to build an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive way of being.
My own self-care is also a priority. I work with my own therapist, engage in peer support, and attend monthly clinical supervision in line with BACP guidelines.
Out of working hours, I have a few special interests; mid-century art & design, architecture, music, and yoga. I am a very willing companion to my feline friend who (full disclosure) may appear during our online sessions together. I recognise the importance of welcoming your pets into our sessions too.
I am now taking on new face-to-face clients in Dunfermline and Edinburgh.
Practice description
I offer both short and long-term therapy online and in person following a free initial 20-minute consultation.
Each session is 50 minutes, on the same day and time every week, where possible.
