About me and my therapy practice

I’m Carol Caveney, a registered therapist based in Birmingham, offering thoughtful, confidential therapy for people seeking greater clarity, balance, and emotional resilience.

My approach is warm, grounded, and deeply attentive, creating a consistent time for you to step away from the pressures of daily life, understand yourself more clearly, and work through challenges with support that feels both compassionate and practical.

I can help if you’re

  • feeling anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed
  • living with low mood or depression
  • struggling with the impact of trauma
  • stuck in unhelpful patterns or relationships
  • experiencing burnout or feeling lost in life
  • wanting to understand yourself better
  • looking for support in seeking an adhd diagnosis

Your First Step:

I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation. This is a chance for us to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, and to see if working together feels right for you. This can be booked online via the link above.

Session Details & Booking:

  • session length: 50 minutes
  • fee: £55 per session
  • format: Weekly or fortnightly

Practice description

I practice in an integrative way. This means I am trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches, and will combine these in which ever way best suits you. This approach acknowledges you as a unique individual and allows me to be more flexible and responsive to your needs.

Regardless of what brings you to therapy, several principles underpin my approach.

  • I will always be honest and open with you
  • I will always treat you as the expert on you - and never assume I know better
  • I will not judge, no matter what you bring to session
  • I will work to ensure you always feel supported, heard and safe to work through whatever comes up

The goal of therapy is not that you receive coaching, advice or a ‘fix’ for your struggles. It is that you gain confidence in your own abilities, build autonomy, feel better equipped to cope with the challenges life presents, and to stand with confidence in your own unique story.

For many years - prior to training as a domestic violence support worker and then as a therapist - I worked as a marketing and communications consultant, helping businesses to shape and tell great stories about their products and services and to forge lasting relationships with customers.

Since training to be a therapist, I work with clients as they explore and make sense of their own unique life stories, support them as develop new levels of self-awareness, and make positive change.

My first session

In our first session, we’ll start by agreeing on how we’ll work together - including confidentiality, boundaries, and practicalities like cancellations - to make sure you feel safe and supported.

Once that’s covered, I’ll invite you to begin wherever feels right for you.
