About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes in our lives we can feel worried, anxious, angry, depressed or disconnected from others. We might have lost motivation and struggle to get through the day. Whether you understand the reasons behind these difficult feelings or not, counselling can provide a space to explore these issues in a safe, caring environment.
Providing this safe, caring environment is at the heart of the way I work. By offering a warm, non-judgmental and confidential space, it is my hope that you will feel safe to explore the aspects of your life, your past, or yourself which are causing you distress. I work in a way that is tailored to your needs. I offer sessions remotely (via Microsoft Teams or telephone) or face to face.
Face to face sessions are offered from my base in Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. Sessions can be conducted either indoors, outdoors in nature or with horses. Outdoor therapy is useful for those who find indoor sessions too overwhelming.
For equine assisted therapy, no experience of horses is required and no riding is involved. Activities include grooming, leading and caretaking of the horses which can assist with increased self awareness, communication skills and assertiveness, reduced anxiety and depression and the processing of grief and trauma. I work with two therapy horses, each with their own unique personalities.
Remote, indoor and outdoor therapy sessions are offered as 50 minute appointments (£55) and equine assisted therapy sessions are offered in 1 hour (£90) or 1 and a half hour appointments (£135) depending upon your preference. Equine assisted therapy sessions are not available in the months of December, January and February.
I understand that choosing a therapist can be daunting so I offer a free, no obligation consultation of 15 minutes where we can speak and you can decide if I am the right therapist for you. If you would like to know more or if you would like to book an initial consultation or appointment, feel free to contact me.
