About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Jenny.
Perhaps you’ve reached a point where you know something needs to change, but you’re not quite sure how to make it happen.
You might be anxious, overwhelmed or lacking in confidence. You may be struggling in a relationship, going through a major life change, or simply feeling that life isn’t quite how you want it to be. Sometimes we can understand ourselves very well and still find ourselves caught in the same patterns.
This is where therapy can help.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and collaborative space where you can be yourself without having to perform, explain or have everything figured out.
Together, we’ll explore what’s happening beneath the surface — your emotions, relationships, experiences and patterns of coping — and work towards greater understanding and meaningful change. My aim isn’t simply to help you manage symptoms, but to help you feel more connected to yourself and more able to live in a way that feels right for you.
I work remotely via Zoom or telephone with adults aged 18+.
I have particular experience supporting people with:
● Anxiety, stress and overwhelm
● Depression and low mood
● Self-esteem and confidence
● Relationship difficulties (individuals only)
● Neurodivergence and related emotional challenges
● Midlife transitions and caring responsibilities
● Grief, loss and major life changes
I also work with university students and counselling students in training, who may be navigating the particular challenges of study, relationships, independence and living away from home.
Reduced-rate sessions are available for university and counselling students.
I accept BUPA and Aviva clients.
Practice description
My approach
My foundation is person-centred and relational. I draw on existential therapy, mindfulness, ACT and other approaches where they are helpful to the individual I’m working with.
You don’t need to understand therapy models, though. I’m interested in you, rather than fitting you into a model.
We might explore the ways you’ve learned to cope, what your experiences have taught you about yourself and other people, and what you genuinely want your life to look like.
The existential side of my work can be particularly helpful if you’re questioning your direction, identity, relationships or sense of meaning. Therapy can provide space to uncover what matters to you and gradually move towards a life that feels more authentic and aligned with your values.
I believe meaningful change often comes through developing a kinder, deeper understanding of ourselves — not through trying to fix or fight the parts of us that are struggling.
My first session
Our first session gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you’d like to change and what you might hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also go through the practicalities and our therapeutic contract.
We can begin exploring what’s troubling you straight away, but there is no pressure to tell me everything at once.
It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist, so I encourage you to use the first session to get a sense of whether I’m the right person to work with. You can then decide whether you’d like to continue.
If you’re looking for a therapist who will listen carefully, think with you and help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface, I’d be very happy to hear from you.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Spirituality, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
