About me and my therapy practice

Anti-Oppressive, Culturally-Sensitive, LGBTQIA+ and Neuroaffirming Therapy with a Working-Class, Queer, AuDHD, Spiritual Counsellor

Who I work with

I work with people who need support to explore issues concerning autism, ADHD, anxiety, burnout, work, money, sex, intimate relationships, shame, trauma, grief, health conditions, family, friendships, loneliness, culture and/or spirituality/life philosophy.

Practice description

I am integratively trained meaning that I draw on knowledge from numerous psychotherapeutic modalities, however I work with a person-centred approach; I focus on developing our therapeutic relationship, affirming your lived experience, and take a compassionate and empowering stance.

My core training was psycho-spiritual, which means I practise in a way informed not just by psychology but also with an awareness of different spiritual paths and experiences of faith. I work mostly within a Western context, however also have an appreciation for Other ways of knowing including indigenous cosmologies, Eastern philosophies and intercultural dialogue.

I am also a Mindfulness consultant, having lived and trained with Zen monks, and am also trained in African-oriented therapy approaches, and have an interest in Animist Psychology. Before I became a counsellor, I worked as a massage therapist, volunteered and travelled internationally, and led personal development workshops.

Qualifications & Professional Background

I qualified with a Diploma in Psycho‑Spiritual Counselling in 2021, and have been working with clients since my first supervised placements in 2017. Every year I complete numerous trainings in areas ranging from Narrative and Creative Therapies to Somatic and Body-oriented therapies, for a holistic and well-rounded knowledge. I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, refugee support, LGBTQIA+ wellbeing and activism. In 2025, I was certified Clinical Supervisor supporting the ethical practice of qualified therapists and trainees.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Kes (he/they).

I am a Level 6 certified supervisor working primarily with humanistic and integrative counsellors and coaches, including trainees, newly-qualified and experienced practitioners. Supervision is also available to other kinds of professionals with emotionally-demanding work.

I'm also a neurodivergent, queer, working-class, non-binary individual, and this lived experience and way of being, often supports practitioners with marginalised identities to feel comfortable working with me. I hope that you'll experience that my approach to supervision is sensitive, philosophical and person-centred at heart.

I offer a space where you can be yourself, and feel supported in your agency and/or private practice work. We can address all aspects of what it means to be developing your own way of working with common life and mental health issues in a complex and uncertain world.

Practice description

Sessions are informed by the three-function 'normative, formative, restorative' model of supervision, as well as the seven-eyed model, and creative and integrative approaches supported by research on effective supervision. My supervision training emphasised supervision as a space for embodied, transformational learning.

Sometimes my supervisees enjoy the options to explore the use of a sand tray, doodling, writing, symbolism or other forms of creativity and play as valid forms of reflection and research.

Alongside your theory and ethics of practice, we may include mindfulness, dreams, intuition and cultural or spiritual perspectives if these are helpful to facilitate your own authentic way of being and processing.

Our work will include ethical discussions and support to maintain your work. My core training was as a psycho-spiritual counsellor and eco-therapist, before I developed a specialism in autism-affirming therapy.

I offer standard fees and a sliding scale for inclusiveness; current rates are updated on my website. You can also find further information and details of how to book a complimentary, introductory call by visiting the link at the top of my BACP profile.
