About me and my therapy practice

I am Samantha Locke, MA, LMFT, LPC-S, MAC, Registered MBACP (Accred.) and PNCPS (Acc.), with more than 25 years of clinical experience supporting young people, young adults and families.

My background includes community mental health, schools, youth outreach, addiction treatment services and private practice. I work collaboratively, helping clients understand what is contributing to current difficulties, recognise patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop practical strategies for moving forward.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma related difficulties, ADHD related challenges, school or work stress, self esteem difficulties, family or relationship concerns, disordered eating and substance use concerns.

My approach is goal focused and tailored to the individual. Depending on your needs, our work may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, emotional regulation skills, communication, boundary setting and practical coping strategies.

Confidentiality is central to my work, alongside clear professional safeguarding responsibilities where there are concerns about safety.

If you are unsure whether I may be the right therapist for you, a brief introductory consultation can help clarify what you are looking for and whether my approach is a good fit.

Practice description

I offer a steady, compassionate space where you can speak openly and feel supported while working through what is weighing you down. My aim is to help you understand what is happening, develop practical coping strategies and move towards the life you want.

I provide face to face Zoom sessions for teenagers, young adults and adults across the UK and Ireland. My work is collaborative and tailored to the individual, with treatment goals shaped around your needs, values and what meaningful progress looks like for you.

My approach includes my Developmental Restoration Approach, DRA, an integrative framework developed through more than 25 years of clinical practice. DRA explores how trauma, neurodivergence, chronic stress and difficult relationships can interrupt emotional development, and focuses on building and integrating missed regulation, relational and practical skills.

Together, we may focus on emotional regulation, confidence, communication, boundaries and resilience, while also exploring patterns that contribute to ongoing difficulties.

I support clients with concerns including anxiety, low mood, stress, ADHD related difficulties, trauma related difficulties, disordered eating, family or relationship concerns and substance use.

My approach is practical, grounded and goal focused, helping clients develop skills and insight that can be used outside therapy and carried forward beyond treatment.

My first session

Before your first session, I will ask you to complete a brief intake form so I can understand what is bringing you to therapy and what you would like support with.

I also offer a free 30-minute introductory consultation. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, talk through what you are looking for and decide whether working together feels like the right fit before beginning therapy.

If we decide to work together, you will receive information about fees, invoicing and current appointment availability, along with the paperwork needed to begin, including informed consent and, where appropriate, permission to share information with other professionals involved in your care.

Your first therapy session will then focus on getting to know you in more depth, understanding your current concerns and beginning to identify the goals and priorities we will work towards together.
