About me and my therapy practice
I’m Tracy, a trauma‑informed counsellor with a psychology degree and years of experience supporting children in care, adults in crisis, and parents navigating challenges. My own lived experience of trauma, loss, and feeling “not enough” has shaped the empathy and understanding I bring to my work.
I support adults, parents, and young people (18+) who are tired of just coping and want to feel safe, seen, and worthy—ready to reach their full potential.
My counselling style is warm, real, and down‑to‑earth. I won’t just sit in silence—I’ll walk alongside you. Together, we can explore trauma, identity, grief, self‑worth, and relationships at a pace that feels safe for you.
People often say, “I’ve always felt different,” “I grew up invisible,” or “I’m scared I’ll repeat the same patterns with my kids.” I understand that from the inside—including the impact of mixed‑heritage identity, discrimination, difficult family histories, and abusive relationships.
If you’re ready for gentle but powerful change, I’d be honoured to help you grow through your seasons—not just survive them.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face, on-line and telephone counselling in a cosy, welcoming room in Walkden. My approach is person-centred, meaning I believe you are the expert in your own life. I don’t see myself as someone who needs to “fix” you, I aim to walk alongside you as an equal—providing a safe, supportive space where you can explore whatever feels important to you.
Life can leave us feeling lost at times, and counselling can be a way to find our path again. I bring not only professional training but also a wealth of personal experience into the counselling room. This includes living through depression, discrimination, abusive relationships, and the fear of not being good enough. These experiences have shaped me into a counsellor who is real, down-to-earth, and deeply empathetic.
Whether you’re struggling with self-worth, relationships, or simply need someone to listen without judgment, I am here to support you in finding your own way forward.
My first session
Counselling is simply a space for you to talk about whatever is on your mind. In our first session, I’ll explain how things work — such as how long sessions last and what confidentiality means — so you feel clear and comfortable. I’ll also ask what has brought you here and what you hope to gain from our time together.
Counselling isn’t about me giving you advice; it’s about us working together. My role is to listen, support you, and help you make sense of things at your own pace. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences may be shaping your present, and look at what no longer serves you.
Many people don’t realise that much of how we think, feel, and act has been conditioned by our past. The powerful part is that once we become aware of these patterns, we have the ability to make change. Counselling offers a safe space to build that awareness, so you can begin to let go of what no longer serves you and move towards choices that feel more fulfilling and true to who you are.
The aim of our work is to help you understand yourself more deeply, make positive changes, and move towards living a fulfilling life where you can reach your full potential.
