About me and my therapy practice
My name is Jay Warcup and I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I hold an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and a diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
I aim to offer a safe, supportive and collaborative space for individuals and couples to explore emotional difficulties, relational patterns, and life challenges.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma (including childhood trauma), low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, and relationship difficulties. I understand how these experiences can affect our sense of self, our relationships, and our ability to engage with life fully — and I work with clients to bring about lasting, meaningful change.
I offer weekly, one-to-one psychotherapy sessions for adults, as well as couples therapy, both in person in West Hampstead (NW6), London and online. I work with clients on both a short-term and long-term basis, depending on your needs and goals.
Practice description
My therapeutic approach is rooted in Relational Transactional Analysis, which combines an understanding of how past experiences shape current patterns with a strong focus on the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship itself. I believe in working together to uncover and understand the underlying dynamics that might be keeping you stuck, while also supporting you in developing new ways of relating to yourself and others.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about beginning therapy, I invite you to reach out for an initial conversation to see how we might work together.
My first session
Research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. That’s why it’s essential that you feel comfortable, safe, and able to connect with the therapist you choose.
Many people have an instinctive sense of whether a therapist feels like the right fit — someone they could trust and open up to. I believe it’s important to listen to that feeling when beginning therapy.
To support you in making this decision, I offer an initial exploratory consultation — a full 50-minute session, either in person in West Hampstead (NW6) or online free of charge.
The first session is a chance for us to meet and for you to tell me a bit about yourself and what’s brought you to therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process, the way I work, or anything else on your mind. There is no obligation to continue if you feel it’s not the right fit for you.
Whether or not we decide to continue working together, the space is there for you — to be heard and met with openness, warmth, and professionalism.
