About me and my therapy practice
Life can feel challenging at times, it can feel stressful and full of uncertainty. Counselling can provide a space for you to safely explore and get to know yourself better.
It can help you overcome challenges, process difficult emotions, manage life transitions, bring awareness and clarity. It can help connect you back to yourself.
I can support you on this journey of self-discovery by offering a warm, collaborative and compassionate environment free from judgment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I understand how daunting it can feel searching for a counsellor and not quite knowing what will help or where to start. It can feel confusing to know what you need, for me it felt important to find someone I felt accepted by and that I could trust.
Practice description
My therapy room is based on Gandy Street in central Exeter, for face-to-face sessions. I also offer online and telephone counselling.
I am a qualified and fully insured BACP registered psychotherapist and counsellor. Over the years, I have gained experience working with a range of individuals experiencing different mental health difficulties, trauma and bereavement.
I practice using a relational and integrative approach. This is simpler than it may sound. It means I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches and that I will integrate various tools from these different approaches to therapy. This allows for an openness and flexibility to mould my practice to meet your needs.
To work relationally means that I aim to make you feel safe, listened to, valued and understood. I believe that our therapeutic relationship is at the core of the work that we do together. So, it is important that you feel comfortable and accepted.
My intuitive approach is underpinned by a humanistic and holistic model that puts you as the expert of your own journey. It is one that values your experiences and feelings that are unique to you. The work that we do is co-created, each client gets a unique experience.
Together we can look to make sense of a range of issues that you may be dealing with, these include but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationships, self-esteem and confidence, childhood trauma, domestic and sexual abuse, emotional regulation, family issues, identity, and more.
My first session
I offer an initial free fifteen minute consultation call. This is an opportunity for us to meet and for me to get an understanding of what is bringing you to counselling. It can give you a sense of how I work and it is also a chance for you to raise any concerns or questions you may have about the therapeutic process.
If you are interested in booking an initial session, please get in touch via phone or email.
