About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Clair and I’m a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

Person-Centred theory is based on appreciating that the individual is the expert on them self. Counselling helps the person to unravel and make sense of issues impacting them, leading to clarity and peace. Accessing counselling can be daunting and it’s important to find the right person to connect with.

My passion is to assist people to cope with difficult emotions. I will listen to you without judgement and respond with empathy, empowering you to make the right decisions for you. I will not try to offer advice or solve your problems for you.

I strongly embrace good mental wellbeing and the work that I do. I have used person-centred counselling at times throughout my life and have valued the strength and clarity this has afforded me.

I am a Registered Counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a master’s in counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am also a Registered Nurse with over thirty-two years’ experience in fields including palliative care, hospice care, and Occupational Health (workplace nursing).

My experience includes working with adults and children.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face sessions in a therapy room within my home in Wistaston, Crewe. Alternatively, I work remotely over zoom or telephone.

If you decide to work with me, I will offer you dedicated sessions of sixty minutes’ duration, on a regular day and time. My sessions are not time-limited, which means that there is no minimum or maximum number of sessions. However, to remain ethical, I will inform you if I believe I am no longer assisting you. If you prefer longer intervals between sessions, I can work flexibly with you, in accordance with my availability.

I work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework and professional boundaries. My practice is compliant with the 2018 GDPR Regulations. My records are stored within a locked filing cabinet and retained for six years from when a client stops therapy.

My first session

Following your contact, I will arrange a mutually convenient time to get in touch with you. We will explore what brings you to therapy and whether I am the right Counsellor for you. I will happily answer any questions or concerns, so that you can make an informed decision.
