About me and my therapy practice

I offer compassionate, practical and personalised support for people experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, burnout, life transitions, and periods of feeling stuck or disconnected. My aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can talk openly, feel genuinely heard, and begin to make sense of what you are going through.

My core approach is Person-Centred counselling, building a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust and understanding. I believe that feeling truly heard and accepted can provide the foundation for meaningful personal growth and lasting change. Where helpful, I also integrate CBT techniques to support you in recognising unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, developing healthier coping strategies, and managing anxiety, stress and low mood effectively.

Collaboration is central to my work. Together, we can explore areas of life that no longer feel right, build greater self-awareness, resilience and confidence, and work towards helping you feel more balanced, capable, and comfortable in yourself and your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience supporting adults and young people across a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including working with neurodiverse clients with ADHD and ASD, within both private practice and organisational settings.

While my preferred way of working is face to face, I also work online and aim to remain flexible to meet individual needs. I recognise that no two people are the same and adapt my approach accordingly.

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with an additional year of CBT training and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have also completed additional training in areas including bereavement, sexual abuse, and working with children and young people, alongside ongoing professional development to support safe, ethical and effective practice.

Practice description

My practice, Lambourn Valley Wellbeing, is in the heart of the beautiful Lambourn Valley, near Hungerford in West Berkshire.

I like to work face to face with my clients but I am happy to work online or by telephone if this is can be conducive to a positive therapeutic outcome.

I feel it is important to be collaborative with clients to accommodate their needs, as everyone is different. I am happy to work creatively with problems or to get out of the counselling room altogether if required. Walking and talking can be beneficial to some.

I ensure regular reviews take place to ensure we are working towards your goals or desired outcomes.

My first session

In the first instance I offer a brief, complimentary, telephone consultation to find out more about your needs and to let you know a little more about how I work and what you can expect from me. If I am unable to help, I will try and point you in the direction of someone more suitable.

If we decide to work together, I will send you an online registration form, my contract - which outlines how we work together - and a copy of my privacy statement - which outlines how your data will be managed.

In our first session, I will usually ask you to give me some history on what has brought you to counselling, ask about your mood, discuss confidentiality and its limits and talk about what you hope to achieve. After this, and in subsequent sessions, I will be guided by what you feel is most relevant to talk about. This is the Person-Centred way.
