About me and my therapy practice

As an integrative counsellor, my aim, with adults, children and young people, is to enable deeper understanding and growth in a warm, supportive environment. Building a deeply trusting and non-judgemental relationship between the client and myself gives space for clients to develop a more positive sense of being. Clients become increasingly able to gain a greater sense of clarity in their lives and can move forward with more freedom in their thoughts.

I have Person-Centred training and my practice is based on Carl Roger's view that  'Therapy is not a matter of doing something to the individual or inducting him to do something about himself. It is instead a matter of freeing him for normal growth and development' (Rogers 1942)

I have counselling experience of working for organisations which support adults. I also have experience of working as a counsellor for charities, schools and colleges, providing counselling for young people from the age of 6 - 25. I have NCSP registration as a Child and Young Person Therapist and I currently work for the organisation 'Off The Record' where I provide professional counselling for children, young people and families.

I am a mother with two grown up children. Before my career in counselling I had over twenty-five years of experience of teaching adults, as well as children and young people in Primary and Secondary Schools and I have a PGCE qualification. Within counselling I enjoy enabling others to understand themselves better and I am therefore happy to work with a more integrative, creative and flexible approach with those who would like this.
