About me and my therapy practice

I am trained as a psychotherapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor. I understand how nerve-wracking starting therapy can be, I offer patience and empathy to support you in sharing your experiences and feelings in your own time.

I work with a range of psychotherapy approaches: Gestalt, Person-Centred and Transactional Analysis, integrating them through relational work to offer a flexible style for each individual client. Establishing a trusting, safe relationship is the most important part of a successful therapy journey, so that you feel able to share your story and feelings. I am here to listen, to offer understanding, insight, support and practical tools to facilitate a process of healing and change.

I can help you to explore anything that is impacting your everyday life, functioning and wellbeing, to become more choiceful in how you live your life, to feel more confident, resilient and empowered.

We can begin to unpick the roots of your issues, exploring ways to express and manage your emotions through acceptance and self-compassion to enable you to move on from your past to forge a more hopeful future where you are more in control!

I work in a way that weaves from exploration of current issues to historical issues and relational patterns led by you at your own pace, to help you address these things and make changes for the future. We can discuss it more in an initial session and see whether my approach feels right for you and if we feel we could work further together.

Much of my work with clients is around relationships, we work on: communication style, connecting with and asserting one’s own needs, self-care, boundaries, developing self-esteem and self-worth to lead a more calm, confident and autonomous life.

Originally from Manchester, my background is in the Arts and Education. I worked as a professional contemporary dancer, choreographer and teacher for nearly 20 years.

Practice description

Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling, I am here to listen and support you. I will focus on you with care, compassion, empathy and a non-shaming approach.

I am a friendly, down-to-earth, genuine person. I create a warm, kind, safe space to allow you to open up at your own pace. I understand how nerve-wracking starting therapy can be, I offer patience and empathy to support you in sharing your experiences and feelings in your own time.

I will help you to explore anything that is impacting your everyday life, functioning and wellbeing, both past and present issues that may be holding you back and causing difficulties.

I don’t diagnose, I don’t label, I work from a holistic perspective.

My personal experience of inter-cultural relationships and my professional experience of working within Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Communities means I'm confident in offering an authentic anti-racist approach. I do not shy away from working with clients around the challenging issues of race and racism and the difficulties of conflicting cultural or religious identities.

I strive to create an inclusive environment and welcome people of all nationalities, races, religions, cultures, ages, genders, disabilities, those from the LGBTQ+ community and people with neurodivergencies.

The initial session is for us to get a feel of whether we want to work together on a weekly basis. You have time and space to talk about your current situation and how you're feeling. I share some of the ways I work to support you in your process. I ask some questions for my records and to gain understanding of where you're at, there are some questions on your history, and I explain how I work in terms of confidentiality.
