About me and my therapy practice
If you have reached this page then you have taken the most difficult step in looking for support. Now it's just a matter of reaching out. Chances are you may be experiencing some emotional difficulty or you may be struggling to make sense of your thoughts, feelings & experiences, or break old habits or patterns of behaviour. To find more balance or clarity around what’s going on for you. Or you may just know that you want to change an area of your life. So whatever your reason for seeking support I firmly believe that you can do this and benefit, from a period of therapy. It is just a matter of reaching out and trusting the process.
Practice description
I will offer you a space where you will feel free to express your feelings, without the fear of being judged. Working along side you we can explore the ways to build up personal resilience, self-acceptance, and self-confidence. I can give you the time to explore your concerns and help you gain insight to overcome the challenges you are facing.
I am offering you a space where I will focus on building a supportive relationship where we can view the world from your perspective & we work together to make changes that you want. I believe that you are the expert in your own life & have the ability to over come problems but recognise that sometimes an "outsiders" support and perspective can be helpful.
My first session
Your first counselling session is a chance for us to get to know one another in a safe, calm, and confidential space. This session is about helping you feel comfortable and supported, rather than having to talk about everything at once.
We will spend time discussing what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. You can share at your own pace, and there is no pressure to talk about anything you are not ready to explore.
I will explain how counselling works, my approach, and what you can expect from future sessions. We will also go through important information such as confidentiality, boundaries, and safeguarding so you feel clear and reassured about the process.
The session will focus on understanding you as a person, including your experiences, strengths, and any current challenges. Together, we will identify areas where counselling may be helpful, such as managing emotions, anxiety, stress, low mood, relationships, or personal difficulties.
Counselling is a collaborative process. My role is to provide a non-judgemental and respectful space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings safely. We may begin to think about goals for counselling, but these can develop over time.
By the end of the session, you should have a clearer understanding of how I work and how counselling can support you.
