About me and my therapy practice

It takes a lot of courage to reach out and ask for help. Whatever you're facing, you don't need to do it alone.

I work with individuals and couples from all sorts of backgrounds who may be facing many different kinds of challenges including; anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or it might be that they simply want to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I also work with clients who have Autism and ADHD. And I'm specially trained to work with C-PTSD and trauma resulting from coercive control or domestic abuse in intimate relationships.

Therapy is a journey we go on together. I’ll be right beside you holding a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. We can work together to help you process whatever difficulties you’re facing, and develop strategies that can move you towards a calmer, more stable and peaceful way of being.

Practice description

I'm an integrated psychotherapist and counsellor. That means I work using several different therapeutic approaches. Depending on the type of problem or issue you’d like help with, I can combine these approaches in a way that’s specific to your individual needs and your goals for therapy. There is no 'one size fits all'. I'm happy to work with your preferences and will also suggest different methods and techniques we could try if I feel they would be beneficial.

I work with individuals and couples both online and in-person. I also have limited space to offer up to eight low-cost sessions online for clients who are students or on low incomes. Please ask me for more details.

My first session

Before our first session I suggest having a ten-minute call, so we can say hello, and also to give you an opportunity to outline your reasons for wanting to start therapy, as well as ask me any questions.

After we've arranged a date for the first session, I'll send you my working agreement. It's a couple of pages to read and has more information about my practice policies. I'll also ask you to fill out a very brief client information form for my records. But apart from that, there's no other paperwork involved.

To help me get a better idea of how you'd prefer to work with me, in our first session we'll cover your past experiences with therapy (if you have any). It's useful for me to know what you feel was helpful and what you feel didn't work so well. We can also use this first session to talk about what you'd like to get out of therapy and set some goals to work towards.
