About me and my therapy practice
BACP Accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist | MSc Addiction Psychology | Addiction & Compulsive Behaviours | 4,000+ Hours | Hypnotherapist
I’m a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with an MSc in Addiction Psychology, over 4,000 hours of therapeutic experience and 25 years’ experience in the corporate world. I’m also a qualified hypnotherapist.
I work with adults experiencing addiction, compulsive behaviours, anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem and difficulties that may have become increasingly difficult to manage alone. I have a particular interest in addiction and behavioural problems, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, eating disorders, gaming and compulsive spending.
My 25 years in the corporate world, including running my own recruitment business, give me a particular understanding of the pressures that can exist behind a successful outward appearance. You may be functioning at work, meeting your responsibilities and appearing to cope, while privately feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious or increasingly reliant on behaviours that are difficult to control.
Therapy provides a confidential, non-judgemental space to step back and understand what is happening beneath the surface. We can explore the patterns, emotions and circumstances that may be maintaining the difficulty, while developing practical and sustainable ways forward.
I work integratively, drawing on person-centred therapy, CBT, solution-focused approaches and hypnotherapy where appropriate. I tailor the therapy to you, your circumstances and what you want to achieve rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
I offer face-to-face therapy in Leamington Spa and online therapy, and I offer sessions in English and Punjabi
Practice description
People seek therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a specific problem, such as alcohol or drug use, gambling, eating disorders, gaming or another compulsive behaviour. At other times, the difficulty may present as anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, loss of confidence or feeling overwhelmed by life.
I work particularly with people who recognise that something is no longer working for them but may be unsure how to change it. Compulsive behaviours can become ways of managing difficult emotions, pressure, uncertainty or uncomfortable thoughts, often providing short-term relief while creating longer-term problems.
My experience in addiction psychology means that I can help you look beyond the behaviour itself and understand the underlying patterns that may be keeping it going. We can explore triggers, thoughts, emotions, relationships and circumstances, while identifying realistic strategies for change.
I also work with professionals and people in demanding roles who may be coping externally while struggling internally. My 25 years of corporate experience gives me an understanding of workplace pressure, responsibility, expectations, performance and the impact these can have on wellbeing.
My approach is collaborative and without judgement. You do not need to have everything worked out before starting therapy. We can begin with where you are now and work together towards greater understanding, control and change.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you are discussing something personal or difficult for the first time. My aim is to make the first session feel safe, respectful and straightforward.
The first session is an opportunity for us to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to be different. We can talk about what has been happening, how it is affecting you and any patterns or circumstances that may be relevant.
There is no expectation that you will tell me everything immediately. You can decide what you feel comfortable discussing, and we can work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I will also explain how I work and answer any questions you may have about therapy. Where appropriate, we can begin identifying some initial goals and consider what might help you move forward.
For issues such as addiction or compulsive behaviour, we may explore the behaviour itself as well as what sits behind it, including triggers, emotions, thoughts, relationships and the situations in which the behaviour tends to occur.
The first session is also about finding out whether we are a good fit. Effective therapy depends on trust and a relationship in which you feel able to be open and heard.
You do not need to prepare a perfect explanation of what is wrong. Simply coming with an honest sense of what you are struggling with is enough to begin.

I work with adults who are experiencing difficulties that are affecting their wellbeing, relationships, work or everyday life.
My particular area of interest is addiction and compulsive behaviour, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, gaming, compulsive spending and other repetitive behaviours that can become difficult to control. My MSc in Addiction Psychology provides a specialist foundation for understanding the psychological processes behind these patterns.
Often, the behaviour is only part of the picture. Addiction and compulsive behaviours can become ways of managing stress, anxiety, difficult emotions or situations that feel overwhelming. Therapy can help you understand what is maintaining the pattern and develop alternative ways of coping.
I also work with anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem and the pressures associated with work and relationships. My 25 years in the corporate world, including running my own recruitment business, give me a practical understanding of professional pressure, responsibility and the expectations that can make it difficult to admit when you are struggling.
My approach is collaborative and without judgement. We can start with where you are now, understand what you want to change and work towards realistic and sustainable improvements.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel uncertain, particularly if you have never spoken to a therapist before. My aim is to make the first session comfortable, confidential and straightforward.
We will begin by talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to be different. You can share as much or as little as feels appropriate; there is no expectation that you need to explain everything immediately.
We may explore your current circumstances, thoughts, feelings, behaviours and any patterns that seem relevant. If you are seeking help with addiction or compulsive behaviour, we may look at triggers, situations and emotions associated with the behaviour and begin to consider alternative ways of responding.
I will explain how I work and give you an opportunity to ask questions. Where appropriate, we can identify some initial goals and consider what you would like therapy to help you achieve.
The first session is also about finding out whether we are a good fit. A trusting therapeutic relationship is important, and you should feel able to speak openly without fear of judgement.
You do not need to have a clear plan before you arrive. We can begin from wherever you are.

Sometimes the person who looks successful and capable to others may privately be struggling with anxiety, exhaustion, low mood or behaviours they feel unable to control.

Practice description
I work with adults who may be struggling with addiction, compulsive behaviours, anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, depression or difficulties in their personal or professional lives.
I have a particular interest in addiction and behavioural problems, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, eating disorders, gaming, compulsive spending and other behaviours that can become difficult to control. My MSc in Addiction Psychology gives me a specialist understanding of the psychological processes involved in addictive and compulsive patterns.
These behaviours are often about more than the behaviour itself. They can become ways of managing pressure, difficult emotions, anxiety, dissatisfaction or experiences that are hard to process. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and develop healthier and more sustainable ways of responding.
I also work with professionals and people in demanding roles who may be experiencing burnout, workplace stress or the pressure of maintaining high standards while struggling internally. My 25 years in the corporate world give me a practical understanding of these pressures.
My approach is collaborative, straightforward and without judgement. We work together to understand what is happening, identify what you want to change and develop realistic steps towards it.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to change. It is also a chance for you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of everything that is wrong. We can start with whatever feels most important to you and gradually build a clearer picture of what is happening.
We may explore your current circumstances, how you have been feeling, patterns of behaviour and any factors that may be contributing to the difficulty. If you are seeking help with addiction or a compulsive behaviour, we can look at triggers, situations, emotions and thoughts associated with the behaviour.
I will explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. Where appropriate, we can begin identifying some initial goals and consider practical ways of moving forward.
There is no pressure to disclose more than you are comfortable with. Therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be honest, so establishing trust and a good working relationship is an important part of the first session.
Whether you are seeking help with addiction, burnout, anxiety, workplace pressure or another difficulty, we can begin from where you are.
