About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative children and young people's counsellor, working with ages 11-25. Counselling with me will be a non-judgemental and supportive space for clients to talk and feel heard.

I offer face-to-face or online counselling. This can be short or long-term counselling which is one 50-minute session a week.

In my practice as an integrative counsellor, I bring many modalities to the work. I mainly use person-centred counselling, which allows the counselling to be tailored to what the client needs. When there is a basis of what the focus will be, I can tailor the work using cognitive behavioural therapy (exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours) creative, art and systemic therapy (looking at the family dynamics and the people around the client).

Working with children and young people I have found it is useful to use creative, arts and play to keep it engaging and to allow a young client a voice when they do not know what to say. This could be through drawing, painting, music, sand, clay and playdough, storytelling and games.

I have many years of experience working with children and young people within the education sector. I have been a practising counsellor since 2020 and I hold a MSc in Counselling Children and Young People.

I am registered with the DBS update service.

Practice description

Counselling with me takes place from my office in Kenilworth. The room is set out to provide talking therapy alongside creative, arts, play and sand tray exploration. The office is an upstairs room in the building.

I can also offer online sessions.

My first session

Before I meet with the child or young person, I will meet with the parent/carer for a parental consultation. This will allow you to assess the counselling and see if I am the best fit to work with your child or young person. It will be a time to introduce myself, and explore the counselling process and what I can offer. This will be the time to explore the reasons for accessing counselling. There is a fee for parental consultations.

If you decide I am the right counsellor, I will carry out an assessment/introductory session with the young person. This will allow time to work out what areas they want to focus the counselling on. For young children, this will be creatively engaging in conversation to allow them to build the trust that is needed. With a teenager, I will provide a calm space to discuss what is difficult for them, understand their lifestyle, their home life, their school life and everything that comes with being a teenager.

Throughout my work with children and young people, I offer parent review meetings. There is a charge for review meetings also.

If you are over 18 and you choose to work with me, we will have a consultation session. This will allow you space to explore the reasons you are coming to counselling and explore the work we could do together. There is a fee for the consultation session

If you are interested in the counselling I offer or would like more information please do get in touch.
