About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor offering a calm, supportive, and confidential space where you can explore what is happening for you at your own pace. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy, warmth, and respect.
I work in a trauma-informed way, which means I am mindful of how past experiences may continue to affect you in the present. I pay close attention to emotional safety, boundaries, and what feels manageable for you, particularly if you have experienced trauma, overwhelm, or long periods of stress.
My approach is relational and collaborative. Rather than trying to ‘fix’ or diagnose, I focus on understanding your lived experience and supporting you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and patterns in a way that feels right for you.
I work ethically and professionally in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development.
Practice description
At The Calm Lantern Counselling, I offer online counselling for those who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves or others. People often come to counselling when they have spent a long time coping alone or putting others first.
Sessions provide a steady and non-judgemental space to talk openly about whatever feels important to you. There is no pressure to know what to say or where to start. We work together to gently explore what is coming up for you.
I support people experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, life changes, and emotional difficulties, including those who identify as neurodivergent. Online sessions allow you to access counselling from your own space, helping to reduce barriers and increase flexibility.
I aim to offer a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, consistent, and supportive, where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and move towards greater clarity and self-compassion.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation, either by phone or online. This is a brief and informal conversation to help us decide whether working together feels right. You are welcome to share a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a sense of how I work.
This initial consultation is not a counselling session, and there is no obligation to book further sessions. Full counselling takes place within booked, paid appointments.
If you choose to go ahead, the first counselling session provides a calm, supportive space to begin exploring what feels important to you. We will also talk through practical details such as confidentiality, boundaries, and how we might work together, moving at a pace that feels manageable and safe.
I currently offer counselling online and by telephone. Concessions may be available. Please ask.
