About me and my therapy practice
The warmest of welcomes to my page. It’s my pleasure to meet you… and however you are feeling right now, that’s welcome too.
I do not know what exactly brought you here. Maybe you are feeling lonely. Or chaotic. Deepest despair. Neurodivergent. Lost. Depressed. Panicked or terrified..... Or everything at once and more!
Perhaps there are simply not the words for what you are experiencing.
I am happy to meet you in any mess, chaos and confusion, exactly at that point. Messiness and jumbles are important signposts and clues. We can work with them together. Feel free to bring them here!
I want you to know that you already have all you need within you to help heal, even though it seems like everything is all 'wrong' with you and can never be fixed.
However you are feeling right now, in this moment, is welcome here in this space together.
I am happy to offer Neuroaffirmative counselling and specialise as a neuroaffirmative trainer.
I am also a Sandplay Therapist and hold additional qualifications in complex trauma and counselling children and young people, which means I recognise the importance of a whole lifespan approach.
This way of working at depth honours the body and prioritises somatic (that’s the body…) and sensory wisdom.
Everything I have ever learnt has been from listening to clients, you are the expert and have that inner wisdom within you.
Counselling adapted and responsive for neurodivergent people including ADHD, Autism, Trauma and C-PTSD (Complex PTSD), Auty-ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, learning disabilities and learning differences....
Your unique neurological profile will be respected in this space. I am happy to receive feedback. I aim to make counselling truly accessible to everyone, all identities and profiles.
Please feel free to ask me any questions. Please feel free to share feedback. Your concerns will be listened to and respected here.
Practice description
This space is about shaping, discovering, and making sense of this together, playfully and respectfully, with lightness and care.
Therapy need not be heavy or challenging. It can activate lightness, play, curiosity and empathy. These are the brain circuits that can help us heal and bring restoration and nourishment. And the cool part of this is, this is backed by the most up to date neuroscience and attachment research.
We walk always with gentleness, creativity and playful compassion.
Let us discover together your brain and nervous system, mapping them as we go…
* Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by the future or traumatised by a past you cannot escape or forget.
* Struggling to be “you” in relationships or battling to make decisions. Received bad news, or feel terrified or paralysed by a blank future.
* Perhaps hope has deserted you, or you are being sucked into a way which doesn’t feel quite right to you, self-destructing or coping in harmful ways?
* Do things always fall apart somehow, or you experience a loneliness that seems hard to bear?
* It may be that loss has broken you right now and it’s hard to see any future or happiness.
* Do boundaries in relationships seem impossible to find or maintain, are you always focused on others.
Hopefully it is reassuring to hear some of this named out loud. You cannot be quite so lonely or broken after all. There are others on these tricky paths!
Instead, let us together seek and hear what you’ve got to say.
This is a space to express and feel the shifts and transitions it can bring.
We can help identify who and how you are, so you can think what you may need and how to get there. Step by step. We walk together and when an obstacle comes up, let’s learn from it, together. This can bring choice and restore power, as well as bringing emotional relief.
My first session
You can email and ask me any worries you have. We walk together at your pace.I also offer a ten minute free phone consultation.
In the first session, we collaborate to create a space to reflect and experience this together: where you genuinely feel held and safe.
Every first session is unique, as you are a unique human being. The approach used is integrative and bespoke: tailored to who you are.
You can get a sense of me and the space. Ask any questions. Share anything you feel is important that I should know.
*No pressure to talk or eye contact is ever necessary.
* Fidgets, zoning out, stims, movement, sighs and stretches are explored together.
* Let us build a sensory toolbox together. We can co-regulate to help you feel comfy and assured and rediscover your body and brain's ability to do exactly this, in its own unique way.
* Responsive to your unique pace and sensory needs.
* We know the world is not always kind to neurodivergent friends. Here, you can be respected and believed, just as you already are.
* Reconnection to your breath and body.
* We can reconnect and regulate using somatic work to your unique sensations and textures held within. Discover their communications and meaning. Offer yourself the worth and esteem to then advocate for yourself.
Your neurological profile is welcome.
I have found that being able to express and be truly believed and witnessed at a deep level, just as you find yourself right now, can lead to deep and profound change. And if change is too scary right now, we respect and reflect on that too.
