About me and my therapy practice

Hi! My name is Julianne Bjørk Yang, and I am a Norwegian-Chinese counsellor specialising in helping individuals navigate cross-cultural relationships and manage difficult or overwhelming emotions.

Multicultural counselling

I bring a unique multicultural awareness to my work, drawing on my Norwegian-Chinese background and professional experience working in Hong Kong, Singapore, Norway and the US. I appreciate the complexity of cross-cultural relationships and understand that navigating these is an ever-evolving learning journey. It is also a journey that's different for every individual.

I tailor counselling to each of my clients' needs, goals and preferences, and I'm very aware that seeking counselling can be a new or daunting experience for people. I thus approach all of my clients with genuine curiosity, openness, and compassion.

Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy, I specialise in helping individuals learn ways to better relate to themselves, their own emotions and their relationships – with a special focus on supporting men in building emotional awareness and deeper connections.

Online counselling

Based in Singapore at Alliance Counselling, a private counselling clinic, I provide in-person sessions in Singapore and online counselling internationally. My online clients are based across Europe, the US, Middle East and South East Asia.

Credentials

I am a Registered Counsellor with BACP and hold a Master of Counselling from Monash University. I have clinical experience from Hong Kong and Singapore, where I have aided adults, adolescents, and children in both private practice and international schools settings.

I draw on my past career as a humanities educator and researcher. Read my full professional bio here: https://www.juliannetherapy.com/about
