About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck? Ready for change?

Does each morning feel like a battle to go to work, to put on a happy face, when you want to stay at home in bed or on the sofa because everything feels too much? Is socialising draining and overwhelming, rather than fun and something to look forward to?

Maybe the laundry is piling up and you can’t find the energy to do it. You want to look after yourself more, but caring about things like what to have for dinner feels too much.

Questioning: Why am I like this? Why can't I just...?

Take a second to imagine mornings without battling with yourself to face the day and without faking smiles with everyone you know. Imagine feeling less anxious and more like yourself again. It might feel out of reach right now, but together we can figure out how to get you there.

Change can feel scary because even when we feel like things could be better, we worry about how they could feel worse. We can work together on what those worries are and how change can feel more comfortable for you.

Practice description

My aim as your counsellor is to give you space to slow down and reflect so you can have a chance to tell your story in your own time. I won't rush or pressurise you into talking about things or making changes. I'm there to be an unbiased person in your life because sometimes friends and family feel too close to a situation. I will empathise and listen, but I will also challenge you if I think there might be something more we need to explore.

Some of the results that previous clients have experienced are that they don't dread going to work, and they feel more open with their line managers to talk through what they're finding difficult in the workplace to try to find solutions. They also feel better outside of work; they start looking after themselves and find time to do the things that bring them joy.

Now is the time to find out how counselling could help you.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to see if we might be a good fit, with no obligation to book in for a first session.

Hesitating about therapy?

Counselling might feel scary and daunting, but it should be the safest and you focused conversation you've ever had. The people who I work with often haven't experienced a space where they can just be themselves and talk about their feelings and wants.

Counselling is somewhere you can say all the things you've been scared to say without being judged.

It can feel strange at first, but talking openly is the first step in being able to figure out why they're stressed, anxious, or depressed (or maybe all three) and how to move forward.

An introductory call helps many people feel more comfortable about counselling; they can hear my voice and see how they feel when talking to me, as well as ask any questions about the process. I offer a free 15-minute call to talk through the counselling process and how it might help you with what you're going through.

My first session

In our first session I like to explore what your aims are and to find out more about you, your life and what you feel like are the most important things for me to know.

In the next sessions, we will start moving deeper into how you feel, what hurdles you face, how things could be different and how we can help you reach those things. This might mean exploring your past, for example what school was like or how your parents processed emotions, or we might stay with what's happening in the present and how you'd like the future to be.

This is all done at your pace, if you're not ready to talk something through then it's ok to say no, not today, or not yet; we can talk around the edges, or change direction.
