Availability

Counselling sessions are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 17:00.

Counselling sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly depending on both my availability and your preference.

We normally meet on the same day and at the same time as much as possible.

I offer counselling on an open-ended basis, but if you would like a set number of sessions, this can be agreed. For neurodiverse individuals, having tools to take into daily life means they experience feeling more positive, are more confident and able to cope themselves in about 10 sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

Counselling to meet your needs, your way.

I am a LGBTQ+, neurodiversity and disability affirmative counsellor. I offer an empathetic and accepting space for you to explore what is going on in your life. I adapt my counselling approach to best meet your needs at any given point in time during our therapy together, striving to create a supportive and accessible space.

I aim to offer you a sense of hope and empowerment, along with techniques you could use in your life to enhance or help you cope with your experiences.

I will support you to understand your past, embrace the present and find your direction to carve out your future.

As a trauma-informed counsellor, I combine a range of approaches and techniques to best meet your needs at any given point in time during our therapy together. I will meet you with empathy and without judgement.

I am mindful that everyone has relationships and life circumstances in which they are operating, so work with techniques that suit you. If desired, grounding techniques start sessions, which can focus on the body or breath, adapting to any disability you may have.

In therapy we may look at how your thoughts affect behaviour; learning to become more aware of internal patterns. Together, we can then devise personalised techniques for you to feel in control and change your feelings for the better.

I am a compassionate and friendly professional who brings a sense of play and creativity to sessions but will tailor this to suit you on any given day.

Practice description

I am passionate about difference and diversity and strive to be actively inclusive.

In person counselling sessions take place at The Beehive Centre, 19A Stretford Road, Whitehall, BS5 7AW.

Useful Information:

  • It step free and has grab rails from the front door to the therapy room
  • Has accessible gender neutral toilets
  • Disabled parking on-site

The Therapy room has space so you can transfer into a chair or stay in your wheelchair for counselling.

There is a comfortable waiting area, both inside and outside.

I am open to fidget toys being brought to sessions or for writing/doodling to happen. I am happy to discuss any accessibility requirements you may have and will do my best to accommodate them.

I hold BSL level 1 and am open to working with interpreters as I realise how much of a barrier to therapy this can present. They would also need to sign our confidentiality agreement. Please contact me to discuss this further.

All questions are valid and I realise there are lots of factors that go into feeling safe, especially when something is new and different.
