Availability
I currently have availability for new clients and welcome enquiries from parents, carers and young people seeking counselling support.
Appointments are available, with daytime and selected evening sessions. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours.
Before commencing counselling, I offer an initial consultation to discuss your needs, answer any questions and explore whether I am the right counsellor for you or your child. This provides an opportunity to explain how I work, discuss confidentiality and agree the next steps together.
Sessions are available in person (if applicable) and/or online (if applicable).
Contacting Wells Counselling
To ensure I can give my full attention to clients during sessions, I am often unable to answer phone calls. If you are considering counselling or have a question, please send me a text message with your name and a brief enquiry.
I will get back to you as soon as I can during my working hours. Reaching out can be the hardest first step, and I appreciate you taking the time to make contact.
If I am away from my practice or unable to respond immediately, an out-of-office message will advise when I will return. If your enquiry is urgent or you require immediate support, please contact your GP, NHS 111, your local Crisis Team, or emergency services if you or someone else is at immediate risk.
I look forward to hearing from you.
About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Wells Counselling.
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a significant step, whether you are seeking support for yourself or for your child. My aim is to provide a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you feel comfortable to talk openly, without pressure or expectation to know all the answers.
I work from an integrative perspective, with person-centred principles providing the foundation of my practice. I aim to integrate these approaches thoughtfully and collaboratively, ensuring they enhance rather than replace the person-centred ethos of my workve every client is unique, and no single approach fits everyone. I work alongside each client, taking time to understand your experiences, recognising your strengths and supporting you to explore whatever has brought you to counselling.
I believe counselling is about walking alongside a client, as you explore your experiences, reconnect with your strengths and move towards a way of living that feels more manageable and meaningful to you.
My professional training and continued professional development include person-centred counselling, trauma-informed practice, bereavement, mental health, and substance use and addiction. Together with my experience of working alongside children, young people, adults and families, this has shaped the way I practise today.
I hold a Postgraduate Level 5 Diploma in Trauma-Informed Counselling for Children and Young People alongside a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My practice is informed by an understanding of how trauma, relationships and life experiences can influence emotional wellbeing, while recognising that every person's story is unique.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional distress or significant life changes, I offer a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, trust and respect, where we can work together towards a deeper understanding of your experiences.
Practice description
At Wells Counselling, I provide person-centred counselling for adults, children and young people in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. Depending on the client's needs and what emerges within the therapeutic relationship, These approaches are always used in service of the therapeutic relationship, supporting clients to develop greater self-awareness, resilience and choice while working at a pace that feels safe and meaningful for them.
I offer a sliding scale of £45 - £65 per hour
Based in the Derry/Londonderry area, Wells Counselling provides compassionate, person-centred counselling for adults and young people, with both face-to-face and online appointments available. To enquire about counselling, please send a text message.
I recognise that no two people experience life in the same way. Counselling is therefore tailored to the individual, recognising your unique experiences, strengths and goals. There is no expectation to have all the answers or know where to begin. We will work together at a pace that feels right for you.
My practice is informed by trauma-aware principles and an understanding of the impact that bereavement, adversity, relationships, mental health and substance use can have on emotional wellbeing. While these areas inform my practice, I remain committed to seeing the person beyond their experiences or difficulties.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. My role is not to direct or advise, but to provide a safe, respectful and collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement.
I work with adults, children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, family challenges, life transitions and emotional overwhelm.
My first session
I understand that attending your first counselling session can feel both hopeful and daunting. My aim is to make this first meeting as welcoming and comfortable as possible.
Our initial session provides an opportunity for us to get to know one another. At the assessment, I will ask you to complete some initial paperwork, including a client information form, consent documentation (where appropriate), and information relating to confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection. This allows us to use our time together to focus on discussing your needs. We discuss what has brought you to counselling and explore what you hope to gain from the process. It is also an opportunity for you to decide whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you or your child.
During our first session, I will explain how I work, answer any questions you may have and begin to develop a shared understanding of the support you are seeking. Together, we will consider how counselling may help and agree the next steps, should you decide to continue.
There is no expectation to talk about everything during the first assessment session. We will move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable, recognising that developing trust takes time.
I welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures and communities and am committed to providing an inclusive, ethical and professional counselling service in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
