About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Paula and I'm glad you found my page.  I’m an experienced BACP registered, Person Centred counsellor based in Didsbury with a wealth of experience supporting adults in my private practice.

If you're feeling lost, overwhelmed, stressed or worried about something that is happening in your life - you are not alone! Many people experience difficult thoughts and feelings at times and need a bit of support, but you don’t have to face them by yourself - I’m here to listen and support you. I’ll offer you a safe and compassionate space where you can begin to make sense of what’s happening for you.

What I can help with

My work often focuses on supporting people with stress, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem issues, burnout, trauma and other significant life changes. That said, you don’t need to know exactly what you’re struggling with to reach out.

I also support people with relationships and loss. Whether you want to explore your intimate partnership, family dynamics, or friendships, we can gently explore how it is affecting you, and what you might need to help you move forward. You might be feeling confused, hurt, walking on eggshells and people pleasing as a result. Some of these experiences can lead to feelings of guilt, shame and anger, impacting how we communicate and maintain boundaries.

I’m an experienced, trained bereavement counsellor and have volunteered with a bereavement charity for many years. If you’re finding life difficult after loss, or struggling with anticipatory grief, I will offer you a safe, compassionate space to talk, make sense of what you’re feeling, and find ways to rebuild. Loss and grief can affect us in many different ways because we are all unique, and sometimes it can be hard to understand or put into words.

Practice description

As a person-centred counsellor, I will wholeheartedly offer a space where you feel truly heard and understood. You may feel stuck and unsure how to move forward and some people don’t know exactly what’s causing their distress, which can be completely normal. This is where I can help. I’ll be alongside you as we gently unravel what’s happening, make sense of it together, and find a way forward. I aim to help you find practical ways to feel more in control and create a sense of ease.

Our work together may include:

  • Having the space to say things that feel difficult to say, including the messy, distressing, confusing and painful parts
  • Understanding more about yourself and others
  • Working at a pace that feels comfortable and focus on what matters most to you
  • Finding practical ways to manage stress and overwhelm
  • Exploring and improving relationships
  • Navigating life’s changes and challenges
  • Identifying patterns that contribute to distress

I’ve been where you are as a client, and know how hard it can be to find the right counsellor, because there are so many of us out here. I’ll meet you with warmth, curiosity and without judgement and welcome all that you bring with respect and acceptance.

My first session

You're very welcome to get in touch to arrange a free, no obligation consultation. It’s understandable to feel nervous about reaching out and wonder whether I can help. I hope our conversation will help you to decide whether I’m the right counsellor for you.

I really look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest wishes

Paula
