About me and my therapy practice
Lantern Counselling is a private counselling practice based in the centre of Ely, offering a supportive, therapeutic space for adults from all backgrounds.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck in patterns that are hard to change. You might be carrying the impact of past experiences, or finding that things feel difficult in ways that are hard to explain. Whatever brings you to therapy, you are welcome here.
I work with people struggling with all kinds of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, complex PTSD, childhood trauma, dissociation, dissociative disorders and personality disorders.
My approach is psychodynamic and client-led. This means I take time to understand your experiences in depth and follow struggles to their origin, working together at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out; we think together and find a way forward that feels right.
I have specialised training in complex trauma and dissociation, and I am particularly mindful of how trauma can intersect with identity, neurodiversity and wider life experiences. This includes the ways that social, cultural and systemic factors can shape mental health and access to support. I aim to offer a calm, respectful space where all parts of you are welcome.
I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and I am committed to providing an inclusive and affirming space for neurodivergent clients, LGBTQ+ individuals and people from all cultural and social backgrounds.
Practice description
The counselling room at Lantern Counselling is a private, cosy, and welcoming space, with its own entrance on Broad Street. I aim to create an environment that feels calm, comfortable, and supportive of your needs.
If you have any mobility requirements, the doorway is 72cm wide with a small 6cm step up. A ramp is available to support access. There is also a toilet available, although unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any questions or specific access needs, you are very welcome to get in touch so we can think together about what might help. I also offer virtual sessions.
The counselling room is based within a residential property where a small dog called Frowzy lives. She won’t be present during sessions (unless you would like her to be), though you may occasionally hear her in the background. Frowzy is a border terrier, a breed often considered hypoallergenic, so this should not affect most people with allergies.
