About me and my therapy practice
I work with people living through loss — not only bereavement, but the quieter, often unspoken losses that come with relationship endings and life or career transitions, especially when life no longer feels like it fits. Grief doesn’t always look how people expect. Loss can be the sense that everyone else has carried on while you feel caught somewhere in between who you were, who you are now and the future you imagined.
On the outside, life carries on. But inside, loss can still feel as present as ever, catching you off guard. In the process, you might find yourself wondering if you should be further along somehow.
There may be times when you find yourself going over things, questioning what happened, or feeling unsure if the pain will ever pass. At times, even moments of relief or enjoyment bring flickers of guilt, as if moving forward means leaving them and your old self further behind.
My work sits alongside you in that space. Not to move you on or reshape what you’re feeling, but to help you make sense of what has changed and how it’s living in you now.
This way of working has grown from my professional and personal experience of loss. I understand how grief can reshape your inner world — how it can affect your relationships, your sense of self, and your connection to everyday life and your future. Together, we find a way for life to move without forcing you to leave anything important behind.
What tends to happen over time isn’t that the loss disappears, but that it becomes more understood. Less overwhelming, less confusing. A gradual sense of things settling — of being able to feel what’s there without being completely pulled under by it. Alongside that, a quiet return of something familiar. Not the same as before, but a way of being in life that feels more like their own again, while still holding what matters.
Practice description
My practice is built around the idea that counselling doesn’t have to feel stiff, clinical, or intimidating. It can be a space where you show up as you are — messy, uncertain, tearful, angry, relieved, or all of the above. Many people who come looking for counselling, often say it feels like “talking to someone who actually gets it.”
From working with St Barnabas in my early practice work I have trained and worked for some years within bereavement. I specialise in grief counselling and loss in all its forms — including bereavement, relationship breakdown, divorce, empty nest, and life or career transitions where nothing feels the same anymore.
Here’s how I work:
• Person-centred counselling at the core — you’re met with empathy, honesty, and steadiness, at your pace.
• Gently incorporated grief counselling models
• Creative approaches such as imagery, writing, or simple exercises when words aren’t enough.
• Exploring deeper patterns and inner parts of self (including shadow work/Jungian ideas)
• Online therapy sessions
I also support relationship themes shaped by loss — boundaries, repeating patterns, rebuilding trust, social anxiety, and navigating change in how you connect with others when feeling overwhelmed with sadness.
My first session
Please note I work online or via phone.
I offer a free 30-minute introductory call. Think of it as a no-pressure space to see if we’re the right fit. During this call, I’ll ask a few questions to get a sense of your story and where you’re at right now. It’s not therapy yet, but it is the beginning of the process — a chance for me to hear what matters most to you and for you to get a feel for how I work.
What makes this different from a standard “intake” is that this is not all tick-boxes or a questionnaire. I also listen, reflect, and help you start naming what you want from therapy. That clarity alone can sometimes feel like a weight off. Clients often leave this first chat saying, “I already feel lighter.”
Some clients find it useful if I suggest simple tools from the start — maybe a journaling prompt, reflection exercise, or small shift they can try out between sessions. Others simply use this time to talk through what’s been weighing on them. Either way, it’s your space, your pace.
Why free? Because choosing a therapist is a big decision. You deserve the chance to meet me, ask questions, and feel out the vibe before committing financially. And if we’re not the right fit, I’ll be honest and — if useful — point you towards other resources.
So, if you’re ready to take the first step, book the call. It costs nothing but could start shifting everything.
