About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I abide by its code of ethics.

I have a private practice in Sevenoaks which offers face-to-face, online and telephone counselling.  I also work at a local hospice providing counselling for the bereaved and for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

The kinds of difficulties which I can help with include: anxiety, depression, sadness, men's issues, bereavement and loss, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, relationship issues, family and work issues, and existential worries about meaning and purpose in life.

I offer individual counselling to adults of all ages, in both short and long term therapy.

My Way of Working

I am an "integrative" counsellor which means I use a number of different counselling theories and techniques. Most importantly, I provide an empathic, non-judgmental space where you are respected and made comfortable as we explore your world.

In our counselling sessions, you will have the space and time to try and make sense of yourself and your relationships. Our sessions will be confidential and non-judgmental.  

Counselling can encourage feelings of trust enabling you to talk about your innermost thoughts, feelings and beliefs without being blamed or shamed.

Counselling also helps to challenge the thoughts which impact on your wellbeing, and can help you to move forward and to make different life choices.

Short term counselling usually focuses on helping solve a current issue which is concerning you.  Long term counselling usually focuses on issues which you see recurring in your life which may be deeper rooted in your past. The decision to have long or short term counselling is something we will agree about at the initial consultation session, but which can change through discussion as counselling sessions continue.

Choosing a counsellor

As mentioned above, I am an integrative Counsellor which means I use a variety of approaches that best suit your needs, such as person-centred and psychodynamic counselling, but the most important aspect of therapeutic support is the rapport that builds between the client and the therapist. That’s why it is so important to make sure you are comfortable with your choice of Counsellor as we start and continue therapy together. In supporting clients make that choice, I offer a free of charge initial consultation (online or by telephone) lasting up to 20 minutes to discuss what you may need and what I can offer.

I offer a free of charge initial consultation (online or by telephone), lasting up to 20 minutes to discuss what you may need and what I can offer.  

After the initial consultation, if we agree to work together, on-going sessions are for 50 minutes and cost £50. I offer a range of counselling options including, in person in counselling rooms in Sevenoaks, or via Zoom or telephone. Where necessary, it can be a combination of these ways of working, whatever is most convenient for you. The duration of therapy is mutually decided and can be short or long term.
