About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Sarah and am an Integrative qualified Counsellor / Psychotherapist, presently completing my clinical Supervision qualification. I work with both adults and children (aged 7+) and have been working therapeutically with both for over 17 years.

I know how hard life can be, it brings many twists and turns and can be very challenging. The strains of modern living, complex relationships and family circumstances can make life difficult to navigate. This can sometimes take a toll on our mental health and wellbeing causing us pain and distress.

Sometimes we are holding issues from the past that need exploring and processing,  counselling can helping you to safely and gently open up, release and reintegrate experiences gaining new perspective and understanding so that you can move forward positively in life.

I will greet you with deep respect, empathy and kindness, I will create a space where you can feel safe and held that feels comfortable for you to explore your own journey, your thoughts, feelings, issues and worries and I will support you to find a way through to a lighter freer place.

I draw on a range of tools that will support you to express feelings, look at patterns of behaviour, explore approaches to relationships, work and your life in general. Our work can be as long or short as you feel is necessary for you.

I support this with mindfulness techniques and other creative therapies such as inner child work (exploring your childhood), story work (exploring your internal narrative including beliefs past and present), art, writing and intuitive therapy to work with both conscious and unconscious parts of yourself bringing these into awareness and balance.

I work indoors and out in nature, working with you as to how you would like to approach your sessions.

Practice description

I am an nature lover at heart and have spent over 20 years caring for our natural environment, engaging communities in nature conservation and the arts,  teaching and mentoring adults and children through volunteering, education, Art and writing.  I qualified as a child care professional and Forest School Leader and set up and ran two Forest Schools for 10 years, working primarily with SEN and those struggling to stay in school,  nurturing and developing confidence through the outdoor environment.

I presently run my own private practice , working with  low mood, depression, anxiety, self harm, suicide ideation, grief and loss, OCD, ADHD, addiction, illness, trauma, relationship and family problems as well as those struggling to navigate neurodiversity.

Therapeutically, in the past, I have worked at Open Doors and Cancer Support with adults providing counselling for those struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma and abuse and supporting those affected by cancer..

Working with children, I have worked at Noah's Ark Centre and with SELFA children's charity providing therapeutic support to children and families and running parenting programmes.

My first session

Should you wish to explore counselling with me, I ask that you email or text me, I will arrange with you a free exploratory 15 min call to find out if we feel we are a good fit. If we are happy to go ahead, then we can book our first session.

Sessions from then are 50 minutes long, during the session we can explore anything that you want to bring and I will support you on your counselling pathway.

I look forward to the possibility of walking alongside you on your journey back to balanced and positive mental health.
