About me and my therapy practice

Having an interest in the human condition, I decided to diversify from my work as an education professional to train as a person-centred therapist. I qualified with a post-graduate diploma in person-centred counselling in 2008 and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy). Along the way I have worked in administration and HR, started a family and cared for elderly relatives.

My experiences have led me to meeting you! I am interested in the uniqueness of you and what brings you to the therapeutic space. In each fifty minute session we take the time to focus on you and what you need. Taking that space for yourself can be transformative. I endeavour to create a safe, empathic space of trust and non-judgement in order to offer you the best conditions for personal growth. This is the person-centred way of counselling.

I have been in private practice since 2022 and have loved meeting and working with a diverse range of clients since then. I work both in-person and online. I can also provide sessions by telephone when necessary.

You’ll know when the time is right for you to try counselling. Sometimes it is very clear what you want to explore or 'sort out' and other times it is a need to take space for yourself before you can move on. You might get a sense that enough is enough and you need to do something different. That's what I'm here for. It’s a privilege to meet you where you are.

Every choice is a chance.

Practice description

I offer individual counselling to adults age 18 and above.

The therapy is tailored to the individual, so the number of sessions would reflect your needs and would be mutually agreed upon in the first consultation. This is then reviewed as we go. Please know that you are allowed to change your mind.

Short and long term counselling is available as required.

I work with a wide range of issues and concerns. (See below)

Counselling is available face to face, online or by telephone.

Each session lasts for 50mins and takes place in a quiet one-to-one setting. (If you choose to work online with me, please consider ensuring you can create a comfortable space in which to talk).

My first session

Initially I can offer a 15 minute telephone appointment to give you the chance to ask any questions in particular and see if it feels 'right' to work together. There is no pressure to make up your mind at that moment.

Thereafter I offer 50 minute sessions weekly. I've found this really helps to build trust between the client and myself. The frequency of sessions is agreed between myself and the client and is regularly reviewed to ensure you are content with our progress.
