About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Jane, I am a British counsellor based in Amsterdam, I also offer online sessions for those in other countries.

Choosing a new counsellor can be overwhelming, pair that with feeling stressed, anxious... (fill in the gap) it can often feel like a lucky dip. My priority is to provide a safe, professional, non judgemental space, where you feel comfortable enough to share at a pace that suits you, ensuring you feel seen and heard along the way. I aim to build a strong and trusted relationship with you that enables us to work together to  unearth your thoughts, feelings and behaviours that maybe causing you difficulty in your life.

I practice person centered counselling and compliment that with Transactional Analysis.  I also work to the BACP Professional Ethical Guidelines which is a necessity to practice safely and ethically.

One thing that is unique about my professional practice is my extensive experience of working with creatives and then later years in more diverse environments including local government, large charities, prisons and adolescent services.

What is some common ground amongst my clients in these different environments? The discomfort of vulnerability, the masking of hurt or anxiety, the feeling of overload but continuing to take on more, loss of boundaries and expression of needs. Resulting in ways that do not serve us well, impacting our mental health, relationships, family and work.

I feel honoured to hold a safe space for my clients, to work through the experiences that you bring. Clients often tell me that I am easy to talk to.

Before 2011 I worked in a number of high-pressured roles, living as an expat in three different countries.
