About me and my therapy practice
I'm Joel — a BACP Registered integrative therapist supporting adults with confidence, self-worth and emotional wellbeing.
Many people seek therapy when life experiences — anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, relationships, identity struggles or self-doubt — have shaped their sense of self.
I offer a relational, confidence-centred approach, helping you rebuild self-trust, internal stability and a greater freedom to be yourself, at a safe and manageable pace.
I have extensive experience with addiction and recovery, men's issues, codependency and relationship difficulties, including in-depth knowledge of 12-step frameworks.
What to expect
As an integrative therapist, I tailor our work to your needs and capacity. This may involve developing emotional awareness and grounding, exploring how past relationships influence your sense of self, noticing patterns affecting confidence, and using creative or experiential approaches where words feel insufficient.
This is your space. We'll work collaboratively to support reflection, understanding and change without pressure.
How therapy helps
Therapy supports self-awareness, emotional resilience and understanding of yourself and relationships. Over time, many find increased confidence, self-trust and greater choice in responding to life's challenges.
Coaching option
Alongside therapy, I also offer life coaching. Therapy and coaching are distinct approaches: therapy focuses on understanding, healing and emotional change, while coaching is more future-focused. Some clients choose to engage in coaching after completing a period of therapy, or where appropriate.
Ways to work with me
• In-person therapy in Tonbridge, Kent, & Clapham, London.
• Outdoor therapy in Kent — many people find that being in nature supports grounding and reflection.
• Online therapy for flexibility and convenience.

Practice description
Healing and growth occur through relationship. Within a secure therapeutic collaboration, individuals can deepen their connection with themselves and others, and develop greater self-trust and confidence.
My practice is grounded in the humanistic, person-centred tradition, which holds that people have a natural tendency towards growth and wellbeing when the right conditions are present.
Whatever challenges you are facing, I offer a comfortable, confidential space that is safe and non-judgemental.
Empathy, realness and unconditional respect form the bedrock of my work. As an integrative therapist, I build on these foundations by drawing on a range of approaches — including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, humanistic and creative methods — tailored to your individual circumstances, experiences and needs at a particular point in time.
This may involve exploring how early relationships continue to influence your life today, noticing patterns of thought and behaviour in the present, or using creative and experiential techniques such as visualisation or artwork. Our work is always shaped collaboratively, with your preferences, pace and personality in mind.
My first session
I will ask you to complete a client information form before or at commencement of therapy with details such as mental health history, reasons and goals for therapy, etc.
We will discuss this in our first session to get really clear about your goals for therapy. We'll also discuss the therapy contract and expected boundaries that will help us to maintain an effective and professional therapeutic alliance.
Starting therapy can seem scary or even overwhelming, but the rewards can be great if you take that risk. I will help you feel safe and secure as you work at your pace to figure out what is best for you and what you would like to address.
I recommend an initial minimum of 6 sessions to allow our work to evolve. After that it is easier for you to make an informed decision about whether or not you wish to continue therapy. If you continue beyond the first six sessions the period over which we work becomes open ended until we end by agreement.
