About me and my therapy practice

I offer you time in the week that is safe and where you can talk freely. You maybe coming to counselling anxious, feeling worn out, overwhelmed, grieving or struggling with relationship issues. In sessions, you can voice how you really feel, without the natural filter many of us have when talking with friends and family.

Sessions can be weekly with no limit on the number of weeks or you may want to come for a set number of sessions. We would agree together the frequency and review this as we meet.

I work in a way that is led by you-which means you get to decide what we talk about and together we'll figure out what you'd like to be different in your life.

Relationships aren't always easy, my previous work and personal circumstances mean I have a range of experience supporting different types of families from couples, single parent, step, blended, foster and adoptive and am aware various challenges at different stages. My trauma informed knowledge helps to appreciate the effect on relationships into adulthood when people have had difficult childhood experiences or within emotionally abusive relationships.

Practice description

I always want people I support feel heard, valued and respected. At a pace you're comfortable with, I will help you feel at ease so that you can talk freely about the tough stuff and I will be alongside you as you figure out what you’d like to change. We can look at current ways of coping that might be holding you back and find a new hopeful way of being. Equally I can also offer some gentle challenge if you're someone who knows they like to avoid talking about difficult feelings.

I can also work more creatively than just sitting and talking if you'd like to try using different materials to help you open up.

My first session

I offer an initial 20 minute telephone call, just for you to ask questions and for me to find out briefly about what brings you to counselling and whether we would be a good fit.

The first session would be used to talk through the expectations you have about counselling and a bit about how I work, we'd decide on the areas you want to look at and I'd ask some questions to find out more about you.
