About me and my therapy practice
I know reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Maybe you’re here because you want to feel more confident in yourself, to quiet that inner critic, or to reconnect with a sense of self-compassion that’s been missing for a while.
Through my work at The Turning Point Counselling Service in Brighouse, I’ve seen how powerful it can be to have a safe space to explore these feelings. And with over 20 years of experience helping and supporting people in a previous role, I understand how important genuine care and understanding are when you’re navigating difficult emotions or life transitions.
Maybe you’re noticing patterns in your relationships that you’d like to understand and change. Or perhaps you can’t quite put your finger on it — you just know something inside you is asking for care, for space, for something to shift.
Practice description
As a person-centred counsellor, I place you at the heart of our work together. I believe the therapeutic space should feel safe, supportive, and genuinely collaborative, enabling you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I also work creatively and flexibly, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities to suit your individual needs.
Together, we can identify what you hope to achieve, set meaningful goals, and regularly review our progress to ensure the work continues to feel helpful and aligned with where you want to go.
Because everyone is unique, our sessions will be tailored specifically to you—supporting you in building self-awareness, developing coping strategies, and discovering resources that can help you navigate challenges and move toward the changes you want to make.

The first sessions is a good time for questions, a time where we can discover your counselling aims and what you need from me and our sessions.

I know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. I know this not only as a counsellor, but from my own experience of having counselling during difficult times in my life. It gave me a safe space to be heard, understand myself more deeply and begin to move forward. Experiencing how powerful it can be to have someone alongside you is part of what led me to become a counsellor.
I’m a naturally empathic and creative person. I love to journal, draw and read, and find joy in being outdoors. Feeling the wind and rain on my skin helps me slow down and be present. These simple moments of connection are things I value in my own life and bring into my work with others.
At the heart of my work is a belief that people have an innate capacity to heal and grow. Difficult experiences, relationships or the way we have learned to see ourselves can sometimes make this difficult to access. We can lose confidence, become disconnected from who we are or feel caught in patterns that no longer serve us.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can come as you are. Perhaps you want to feel more confident, quieten your inner critic or develop greater self-compassion. Maybe you’re experiencing difficulties in your relationships, carrying experiences from the past, or simply feel that something needs to change.
My approach is gentle, creative and trauma-informed. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all way of doing therapy, so our work will be shaped around you. Alongside talking and reflection, I may draw on creative approaches, gentle guidance and breathwork where helpful.
You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong or have the right words. We can start wherever you are and take things at a pace that feels right for you.
My hope is that counselling gives you space to reconnect with yourself, develop a kinder relationship with who you are, and rediscover the confidence and inner resources already within you.
Reach out when you feel ready ☺️.
Practice description
As a person-centred counsellor, I work collaboratively with you, creating a space where we can explore what is happening for you and what you would like to change or understand. I see counselling as a process we navigate together, rather than something where I have all the answers. My role is to listen, offer gentle challenge and support, and help you make sense of your experiences in a way that feels meaningful to you.
I work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches and adapting the way I work according to your individual needs. Sometimes this may involve exploring thoughts, feelings and patterns; at other times, it may be helpful to look at how experiences show up in the body, relationships or everyday life. I may also introduce creative or practical ways of exploring things when these feel useful to you.
Our work will develop at a pace that feels manageable, with space to pause, reflect and consider what is or isn't working for you. We can identify what you would like from counselling and revisit this as our work develops, allowing your needs and priorities to guide the process.
Counselling can be a place to gain a different perspective, make sense of experiences, recognise patterns and explore possibilities for moving forward. My aim is to work alongside you in a way that feels thoughtful, collaborative and responsive to where you are, rather than fitting you into a particular way of working.
My first session
Our first session is really about getting to know each other and beginning to build a sense of trust and connection, giving you the opportunity to get a sense of how counselling might feel for you. It’s a space to start exploring what you’d like support with and what you hope to gain from our sessions.
Once we’ve agreed on how we’ll work together, there will be plenty of time to begin your therapeutic journey, allowing you to talk about whatever feels safe and important to you.
This first meeting is also a good time to ask any questions and to reflect on what you hope to gain from counselling, as well as what you might need from me to help you move towards your goals.
