About me and my therapy practice
My work is grounded in existential and relational psychotherapy, with a strong emphasis on lived and embodied experience. I am interested in how people make sense of themselves, their relationships and their world, particularly at times when life no longer feels as it once did. Clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure of who they are becoming, even when there is no single problem to fix.
I work collaboratively, offering a reflective and supportive space where we can explore what is happening for you emotionally, relationally and, where helpful, in the body. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all or solution-focused approach, I aim to understand your unique experience and the meanings you attach to it, while staying attentive to the social, cultural and relational contexts that shape your life.
Alongside talking therapy, I may draw on embodied awareness, gentle somatic enquiry or visualisation where this feels appropriate and supportive. My intention is to help clients develop greater understanding, self-acceptance and choice, and to explore ways of being that feel more authentic and aligned with their values.
I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and value curiosity, openness and care within the therapeutic relationship.
Practice description
I offer a calm, thoughtful and collaborative therapeutic space in which clients are invited to explore their experience at their own pace. Sessions are shaped by what you bring, and while my approach is reflective rather than directive, I aim to be engaged, responsive and gently challenging where this feels helpful.
Clients often describe the work as exploratory and grounding. We may spend time making sense of patterns in relationships, experiences of anxiety or low mood, questions of identity or meaning, or feelings of disconnection from self or body. I have particular interests in working with issues relating to identity, sex and sexuality, relationships, life transitions, health-related difficulties and experiences of loss or uncertainty.
I bring over a decade of experience working within healthcare as a registered adult nurse, including supporting people living with chronic and life-limiting conditions and those receiving palliative care. This informs a compassionate, whole-person approach that is attentive to both emotional and physical dimensions of experience.
Therapy with me is not about rushing towards answers, but about creating space to reflect, understand and explore possibilities for change.
My first session
I offer an initial session to give us the opportunity to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to therapy. This first session is a chance for you to get a sense of how I work, ask any questions you may have, and decide whether you feel comfortable continuing.
I do not require clients to complete formal assessments or questionnaires before the first session. Instead, we will spend time talking together about your current situation, what feels important to you, and what you hope therapy might offer. There is no expectation that you arrive with a clear problem or set of goals.
I also offer a 15 minute, free initial telephone or online call prior to booking, if you would like to ask practical questions or check whether my way of working feels like a good fit.
